yeah because you know then the NY media will be all over this and make believe that he is better than Brady......:eek:

i gotta give him credit

my boy rivers has regressed and is playing like eli's worst years , and eli is playing like rivers best years

eli's on pace to take the most sacks in a year he's ever taken , yet he's got 13 tds to only 5 ints

5 ints after having thrown 25 last year

and at this time last year eli was 14 tds/11 ints

so he's playing a lot better

still, over the course of his career he's been too inconsistent to have any brady/eli comparison that holds any water

He's been listening in on the Jest media relations training.

well, playing the pats will certainly help him make this point

And I think I am the same looks class as Leonardo DiCaprio. If Eli can be in the same QB class as Brady, I can be in the same looks class as Leo.

If you have to convince people by telling them you are as good as Brady, then you arent. Plain and simple.

That comparison is for others to determine, not Eli.

Give me a break.

They asked him a question during the offseason (do you think you're an elite QB?), and he answered it the way he believes. Now they're bringing it up again.

This really has nothing to do with Eli and everything to do with the media wanting something to write about. It's not like he started comparing himself to Brady unprompted.

Manning said that hes as good as Tom Brady. When asked if he was as good as Brady, Manning said, Yes. After 20 INTs in 2009 and 25 INTs in 2010.

He opened his mouth and compared himself to a 1st ballot HOF QB.

Who actually believes that but Manning?

"I consider myself in that class," Manning told host Michael Kay in a radio interview with WEPN-AM 1050 in New York. "Tom Brady is a great quarterback, he's a great player and what you've seen with him is he's gotten better every year. He started off winning championships and I think he's a better quarterback now than what he was, in all honesty, when he was winning those championships.

"I think now he's grown up and gotten better every year and that's what I'm trying to do," Manning said. "I kind of hope these next seven years of my quarterback days are my best."

Wow!

Can you believe the gall of a franchise QB to consider himself as good a player as anyone else in the league?

If there's anything I want in my starting QB, it's a complete lack of confidence in his own skills, right?

I understand your point here but really? After the year Brady had: NFL MVP, 36 TDs and 4 INTs, 14-2 reg season. Manning: Just a terrible season all around not including his INTs.

I think it was just the timing that he said it. Everyone was still in awe on Brady's best season and he opened his mouth after his worse season with nonsense.

What should he have said?

"Brady is really good and I'm not"?

Again, Eli didn't call a press conference to announce that he's as good as Brady. He answered a question in an interview as honestly as he could.

Getting worked up over it is exactly what the writers who took it and ran with it wanted. Getting worked up over it 2 months later just because the Pats and the Giants are playing their scheduled game against each other is a bonus, because they don't even have to come up with new material to get page views and angsty comments from Patriots' fans.

Eli Manning is a douche.

No

A sign hangs in the NE locker room that says "Dont feed the hype." Brady has been compared to Montana numerous times and he always deflects the comparison away when quizzed about it.

The NY media threw the bait out there and Manning swallowed it hook, line and sinker. After 8 years in NYC you would think that Manning would be smart enough to handle the media.

If he doesnt play lights out this Sunday and the Giants lose, Manning will be ripped up one side and down the other for his Brady comments.

Who is all worked up?

The fact that Manning is still fielding questions whether or not hes nothing more than a mediocre NFL QB 8 years after being drafted says it all. It would not surprise me in the least if Eli Manning never wins another Super Bowl.

I recall when Elisha was coming out in in the draft he was touted as possibly the most talented Manning... I have a feeling his whole life has been about comparisons and he likely has the all too common third child insecurities as a result. So he can't bring himself to say, I wish, or that's what I'm striving for...

If not for the greatest helmet catch in NFL history and one hell of a defensive game plan coupled with that pedigree, he might not even be a Giant these days. He's never been a leader, Strahan of all people had to rally the troops around him and Generalisimo Coughlin in 2007 or they wouldn't have even made the playoffs. Mara was questioning whether Eli could ever lead a team to a championship...

As franchise QB's go he's about as close to the antithesis of Tom Brady as you can get. They've all got talent or they'd never get a shot in the NFL. At least guys like Romo have the charisma if not the focus and discipline to lead...albeit in fits and starts. Eli has nothing going for him beyond his maddeningly inconsistent performances on the field and dumb luck.

Amassed all sorts of college accolades. Not so many at the next level. Thirty years old, his career half over, one Pro Bowl nod. A SB MVP courtesy of David Tyree and Mike Carey swallowing his whistle... Never an all pro, not even second team... Closest he's ever come to a league MVP trophy is when he visits Peyton's house...

But other than that...nearly a mirror image of Brady's eliteness...:bricks:

I'm sorry if this is old stuff, but this thread needs it.

Manning Face

The guy can say whatever he wants. I have no real idea how wrong or right he may be, but it's irrelevant - I just want the Patriots to win and don't care if they do so with Eli playing better than Tom.

No...never apologize for that stuff, it never gets old... Eli and Peyton are a lot closer in class than Eli and Tom ever will, albeit not statistically.... They are nearly in a class by themselves expression wise, although Rivers occasionally gives them a run for their money...

Hopefully our D won't fuel the fires of his delusion on Sunday...
