I hate to be a pessimist but I need to vent.

We have big problems and we've made some horrible decisions with personnel-specifically in the secondary. We've opted for quicker players...but it seems they lack the aggressiveness of (last 10 yrs)-Otis Smith Tebucky Jones, Ty Law, Wilson, Samuels etc....etc......list goes on

I'm really disappointed and angry at the Bodden move. That was stupid.

I'm not a coach and I don't see the practices daily either-so I don't know what's best for the team to win.

Buffalo looks great right now....

Love BB but...

Bumble B. is not a good DB coach.

Who did he have come in to help a couple of yrs. ago? Dom Capers?

We drafted :

1.Butler CB (2nd round)-gone.
2.Merriweather S (1st)-gone!
3.Wilhite CB (4th)-gone
4. Wheatley CB (2nd)-gone
5.McGowan S (CHI)-gone
6. Sanders S -gone!
7. Bodden (DET(- gone!
8. McCourty CB (1)- ACTIVE
9. Dowling CB (Top 2nd)- OUT
10. Chung S (2nd)- ACTIVE (gotta stay healthy or we're done!)

The issue is developing our DB's...better coaching.
Bill needs help

Not to mention all the drafted/undrafted linebackers...Crable, Woods,Alexander and all the other....Adalius ...Burgess etc etcThomas and even further back to Beisel and Chad Brown

Not with the talent we have. We can patch it up here and there..But Mccourty sucks this year...moldin? LOL

Its great to have Mayo back but we've got to rush Spikes more. I think we need to take more chances on defense as far as pressure and get Ochocinco and Tate into the game! Why isnt Tate returning kicks?

Mcourty regaining last years form would be a start.

Its got to happen soon.
Im w/ you.
Last yr wasnt a fluke and I like Arrington as long as he stays physical and fast.....STeams too...

Work on applying the pressure they worked on during the preseason game vs the Bucs and the secondary will not be an issue too much. We will definite see that defense again very shortly.
Spikes as Mike and Mayo as the Will. That is all they really practiced during open training camp. Injuries and other situations has set this back, but in due time, in due time.

He looks so lost..it's scary

It's sad too, because the D's plans were dependent upon him being an island. If he was as good as they thought he'd be, they'd probably have a mediocre defense instead of a piss-poor one.

Are you joking?

agree 120%

Tate isn't returning kicks because he hasn't been on the team for over two months.

In terms of fixing things, though. I'll assume fix means make it robust and upper eschelom. In that regard, no, but one could likely jerry rig that sumbeech enough to get you home. They need to mix in different coverages to put what assets they do have in place to make plays. Ah hell, I'm geeking out. I'm gonna make a thread.

the thing is, with as many yards as we give up, we still are middle of the pack in points allowed...for as much as the steelers outplayed us it was only a 1score game

and a large part of that is because we have a pretty good redzone Defense that limits our opponents to 3pts or a turnover instead of 7

you cant fix this defense, it is what it is. but you can improve on areas to ensure that this team has the best chance to win it. when you look at it, the steelers game was about 2 possessions. 3rd and 15 and 3rd and 12...the patriots get a stop on those both, that gives brady 2 more possessions to put points on the board.

things like missed assignments/poor tackling are things that can be coached and fixed. we need to put a focus on better tackling/coverage and getting off the field when you have a 3rd down.

thats how they beat the cowboys...romo passed for over 300+yards....but the Pats D got off the field on 3rd downs when they had to

I hope all the criticism that they are getting from other teams/the media is a wakeup call to this defense and they can respond accordingly from here on out

It would seem difficult for Tate to return kicks in Foxborough since he plays for the Bengals.

the same reason bodden and meriweather aren't in coverage

can they fix it no not with the players they have but they can hide it if they can get the pass rush going.... and im not talking about a few sacks here and there by carter im talking about hitting the QB ever time he drops back to pass

Good question !

On the same subject why aren't we running Correy Dillon more. Also when was the last time that bum Bruschi got a sack ? Cut his ass BB

Gotta get a pass rush...the Steelers looked great and you better believe the NYG will be ready.
