Giants (5-2) at Patriots (5-2) 4:15PM ET

Do I really need to explain this one?

Jets (4-3) at Bills (5-2) 1:00PM ET,

What will likely be the most contriversal pick of the season, it is in the Patriots best interest to root for the Jets for the first time since 2008. The Bills have the same record as us and a tie breaker. We have a game on the Jets plus the tie breaker.

Buccaneers (4-3) at Saints (5-3) 1:00PM ET,

We have NO's 1st round pick.

Broncos (2-5) at Raiders (4-3) 4:05PM ET,

and Oakland's 2nd.

Bears (4-3) at Eagles (3-4) MNF 8:30PM ET,

and Philly's 7th.

Falcons (4-3) at Colts (0-8) 1:00PM ET,

Rooting for the Falcons to deny the Saints the division. I am sure others will root for the Colts to deny them luck.

Browns (3-4) at Texans (5-3)

Texans are the bigger threat for playoff seedings.

Bengals (5-2) at Titans (4-3) 4:05PM ET,

ditto

Dolphins (0-7) at Chiefs (5-3) 1:00PM ET,

Same as above.

Ravens (5-2) at Steelers (6-2) 8:20PM ET,

ditto

49ers (6-1) at Redskins (3-4) 1:00PM ET,

Keep the Eagles in last place in the division.

Packers (7-0) at Chargers (4-4)

Being we are ahead of the Chargers by move than a game, I don't see them as a risk, but I would like them to finish ahead of Oakland.
Seahawks (2-5) at Cowboys (3-4) 1:00PM ET, buy tix

Buffalo has one of the Sea's picks. The more they win the less it is worth.
Rams (1-6) at Cardinals (1-6) 4:15PM ET,

A stretch to the max, but I wanted to get all the games. Assuming Fins and Colts win a few, having the Cards draft before them will likely deny them luck, Rams, not so much.

Byes: Jaguars (2-6), Lions (6-2), Panthers (2-6), Vikings (2-6)

Jets (4-3) at Bills (5-2) 1:00PM ET,

Nope. I'm rooting for the Bills and then we can finish them off the week after.

I think your going all wrong about it this week. This year is very similar to 08. The afc west may get into the playoffs with an 8-8 record while we miss out despite a good standing.

We might have to get in the wild card route and if so we need the ravens and bengals to be knocked out of the wild card race. I would rather have the chiefs take the west and i would also like to see the chargers pushed out of the playoff race entirely.

Lastly, rooting for the jets in 08 was a one time thing and they let me down. I don't even have the strongest hate towards the jets like others but it felt disgusting rooting for them even though it was for our benefit. Besides, a bills win would further push the jets out of the playoff race so it is a win-win.

Re: For Whom to root week 9

No way I'm rooting for the Jets. The Jets are a better all around (D, STs and OK not offense) team than the Bills and more dangerous. Emotions aside, the Bills are hurting with injuries on D, already a week area and I expect them to fade. Plus we have our shot to negate the head to head advantage at Gillette. If we can't do that, I don't even want to watch the 2011 Pats in the playoffs.

And I want the Squealers to win. Why? Because they have us on the tie breaker so we don't want the Ravens to win the division and have us looking for a low seed vs the Steelers. I see the Stealers as the one seed in the AFC. If we're the quality team, we need to beat the Steelers at their house in January anyway.

Yeah the jets-bills game will be highly debated. Im rooting for the bills but I think the jets win it, while we beat NYG setting up a major showdown next sunday night.

Jets have an easier 2nd half schedule than the Bills, Jets have a higher potential than the Bills, we have the Bills at home week 17, we control our own fate with the tie breaker, and the Jets are the #&*%@ing JETS. Rooting Bills all day.
Otherwise I agree.

I'm rooting for the Jets..If they win and lose again to the Pats the following week, they are essentially going to be eliminated from the AFC East race by losing the tie breaker and having more loses. Buffalo would have 3 loses, and their schedule is even more difficult, and I don't see them going any better than 11-5. They would still have to play in the Meadowlands, at San Diego/Dallas, and Foxboro on New years.

I'm cheering for the Jets alright.... to end the game in a tie with the Bills. :rocker:

I think it is in the Pats best interest for the Jets and Bills to split their games over the next few weeks and the Pats to beat both of them. I can't root for the Jets and even though they are 5-2 I still can't take the Bills seriously although I really should.

I'd rather chew on broken glass that to remotely root for the Jets. I'll be rooting for the Bills almost as hard as I root for the Patriots.

Let the Patriots take care of the Bills when they play them next. I'll bet hard money that TFB doesn't throw 4 int's next time. The Jets just can't lose enough to suit me.

Can never ever root for the Jets. For some reason they have success in the playoffs, so the sooner they can get eliminated, the better.

i think we should worry about beating the giants first...

however , i said early in the week, the jets beating the bills would be good for us...

If the Steelers lose, we are one game up on them negating the tie breaker, and even with the Ravens who we may or may not have a tiebreaker advantage over when all is said and done.
The only way your plan works is if we are fighting the Steelers for the last wild card spot and that is not going to happen.

One factor to consider is that while we play both teams again Buff is at home and the Jets are in New Jersey.

Basically! A Steelers loss is the preferred outcome. Therefore, Baltimore would have the tiebreaker if they are tied for the division. Thus, the Steelers would be a wild card regardless if both the Pats/Steelers records are the same. However, if the Pats/Steelers tie for best record or even the last wild card, the Pats are out. I don't think that will happen because I think the AFC North loser is going to be the 5 seed regardless.

You simply can't root for a Chargers win over the Packers....doesnt make sense

AFC vs. NFC you always hope for the NFC to win

Unless you are jealous of the Packers undefeated record

Not to mention the Chargers are always off to a slow start and then motor through the winter months

The Chargers could very well have a better record than the Pats come January...don't want a Chargers win.

I'm sure you knew it would be an unpopular opinion when you did it - but I also have to say no way am I rooting for the Jets.

And it's not just emotions.

The fact is - we have a tough schedule over the next couple weeks. We could wind up 6-3 after two weeks, and that would make it a 3 team mess in the AFCE. I'd rather see the Bills knock the Jets back a game, and we can get some separation. Two teams are coming out of the AFCE this year it seems - I just want to make sure we're one of them.

Worry about playoffs first, then the division - and a two team race makes the playoffs a sure thing.

Giants (5-2) at Patriots (5-2) 4:15PM ET
Bears (4-3) at Eagles (3-4) MNF 8:30PM ET,

and Philly's 7th.

As I mentioned before, TGIAGH, that pick is already out the door in one of the Pats' trades. So that's not a reason to root against the Iggles.
