Now don't get me wrong, losing to one of our biggest rivals is upsetting. But the amount of panic I have seen since is simply not warranted. Here are my top reasons:

1. We beat the crap out of the Steelers last year, but they are the ones that went to the Super Bowl. I am ok with the situation being reversed this year.

2. We have all the necessary pieces to go deep into the playoffs. Yes even a decent pass defense. There is no question that this is the weakness of the team, but there is plenty of talent and time to fix the issues. Our defense does not play well together, but again this is fixable. There are much bigger problems a team can have than having a weak pass D in week 8 of the season.

3. Along with my last point, name me 1 Super Bowl champion this decade that did not have a clear weakness? We can pass the ball, we can run the ball, the can stop the run, and we are even starting to develop a little bit of a pass rush.

4. The goal of a football team is to peak in January-February, NOT in October. In the grand scheme of the NFL season, it doesn't really matter how you play until December. (provided you are still in the Playoff race, which I still think we will be) Every year there is one or two teams that look unbeatable in October, but come the playoffs they fizzle. (see Falcons, Colts, and the infamous 2007 Patriots)

5. Lots of injuries=Lots of changes=Lots of Volatility. If this team get healthy by the end of November, and there are sign that we are headed in that direction, I have full confidence that we will be a force to be decking with.

You really need to keep up with things. The board has decided that losing a game on the road to the defending conf champs who are 6-2 this year, the best record in the NFL, means that it is over, we will never win again, and the last 10 years have been smoke and mirrors because BB is an idiot.

The worst pass defense in NFL history
+ an offense that chokes under pressure
= well-deserved gloom and doom.

Very simple.
Only juggernauts like the 2007 Patriots or the 2005 Colts can win the SB.
Flawed teams have no chance.
Since the 2011 Patriots have some flaws, they have no chance.
Hence the" gloom & doom".

You forgot to mention that the players all SUCK, and THE HEAD COACH IS THE SUCK...just heard that 5 minutes ago. That's how bad the team SUCKS.

That needs to be clarified that this is a record breaking year for passing yards in the league in general. Some of the best pass defenses this year would be average in years past. I looked at the middle of the pack right now. The Cowboys are the 16th best pass defense giving up 234.4 yards per game. Last year, that would have made them the 25th best team in that category.

The pass defense is not good, but this year is a statistical anomally where one, two, or even three QBs might break Marino's passing yards record.

We've got plenty of time to catch up, but we don't have a good pass defense at this point. Have we won the super Bowl with scrubs in the secondary before? Yes we have, but this we suck/we're perfect back and forth serves no purpose.

We've got good talent elsewhere and a new defensive approach, but we are going to need some waiver wire guys to really step up in the secondary. Fortunately, we have probably the best secondary coach around as HC of the NEP.

Chung, Arrington and McCourty need to be incredible in leadership too, I guess.

Oh, and i don't care if they give up 1,000 yards a game, that's meaningless. Just execute a good plan and make key plays. Stats are for losers, after all.

There is only one stat that has any value.. a W or a L..

Dan Marino is considered one of the most prolific passers of all time, how many rings does he have????

People forget that if that on side kick worked and we scored we could have won that game, despite how crappy we played..

I put a lot of this loss on special teams, usually they are not noteworthy.. but last Sunday the two gaffs committed by Gronkowski were significant.

Have you seen this horror show of a D? That's the reason for the doom and gloom. The O is fine...not the D

What's with ignoring what this defense has been trending to over the past 3 years?

Yeah, our special teams has looked weak, but a good amount of our special teams is currently masquerading as defensive backs. Seriously, we might as well promote a couple of those guys that have been bouncing on and off the practice squad and get them into the special teams, DB mix. Time to carry extra there and cut some dead wood elsewhere IMO.

Same damn thing happens after EVERY loss, it's so predictable on this board:

- Major panic/suicidal posts in the gameday thread
- Multiple threads asking for the head of BB/major changes upcoming/declaring this team will never go anywhere
- Multiple response threads 'shocked and appalled' at the bandwagoners giving up already
- An unsuspecting female is groped

Ok maybe just 3 of those typically happen, but it never changes

I am not overly concerned about the defense. It has no place to go but up and I still feel that even as it stands now that it is no where near as bad as people believe. I would gladly take this secondary over the 05, 08, and 09 years.

The wide recievers scare the hell out of me. We have great tight ends and then welker. Branch doesn't strike fear in anyone and ocho is invisible(the announcers have to tell me when he is on the field). Edelman has horrible hands and is now a perv. Brady doesnt like Price(he is superman with hoyer and mallet i guess) and then the special teams guy, slater.

We got clobbered by a big AFC rival.

Our defense doesn't seem to me capable yet of making a stop against an elite team with all the chips on the table.

Our offense has been poor for two games in a row, with only one brilliant drive saving its bacon.

The Jets are now a game back with a game to go at their place, where they are 4-0 and beating people pretty well.

Gloom and doom? No. But this team has some issues right now that make me think getting to the AFCCG would be a fairly impressive feat, and I wouldn't have a huge amount of confidence once we got there.

I wonder how bad the Saints and Chargers forums are I'd even throw in the Ravens as well seeing how they almost lost to lowly Arizona

If the two gaffs belonged to Bibi, then Gronk is guilty...
