The preliminary diagnosis on Patriots [team stats] safety Rodney Harrison [stats] is a strained medial collateral ligament in his right knee that is expected to sideline him for this week’s game against the Jets and possibly the entire postseason.

...

Sources last night indicated that Harrison suffered a mid-level strain of his MCL, which is one of the stabilizing ligaments of the knee. He could be sidelined from 2-4 weeks. Should the Patriots reach Super Bowl XLI on Feb. 4, it would be five weeks to the day after Harrison was injured.

Son of A *****...

Rodney cant catch a break.

Seymour had a strained MCL last season and missed 4 games.

This sucks, was hoping it was nothing serious that would keep him out.

From your lips, etc.

They don't need him for the Jets game, and they won't need him for the Super Bowl.

When I saw Rodney pounding the ground after that hit, I felt nauseous. It's similar to the feeling I got when Seau broke his forearm against Chicago. Right now, I'm just praying that Sanders can hold the fort, and that Rodney comes back for the divisional playoffs. The Patriots have to win the SB for him and Seau, they just have to.

I have a hunch he will be back for the 2nd game.

I am not a doctor, but I am guessing there are varying degrees of an MCL strain, and fromwhat I have heard, and read, he does not seem to be having much difficulty walking.....

I hope that is the case. Mangini is now going to be happy...

When it's torn, it's torn.

But strain can be mild or severe, and anything in between.

Mother ****er. This totally sucks. Our defense just isnt the same without Rodney, our secondary, isnt nearly the same.

God damn the guy who blocked Rodney. And lets not start planning about the divisional round and superbowl. It makes you seem like the Jets game is a push over. And if we lose that, just imagine the pain. I just hope our secondary doesnt play like that time against the Lions. My god that was horrible.

Man...this really sux - maybe we get him back for Balt/SD?

Sanders has really been coming on since earlier seasons woes. He seems to be be playing with confidence now and is making plays. We really need him now......along with Hawkins and the others, they were getting used to playing without Rodney, so back we go.

Thats what I mean, planning ahead.

Could someone please drop a bomb on the Titans Facility (tongue and cheek, not serious for all the pc police)--what a bunch of worthless morons... get well soon Rodney

Dude, I can plan ahead- I am not playing. As for the team planning ahead - don't you worry about that.

The head coach will coach his players to play and trust me, NO WAY will this team lose to the Jets.

Tomase likes to highlight the worst case scenario when it comes to injuries. I'll believe Rodney's out next week when I see it, or when Reiss has something about it.

Someone should pull a Tanya Harding on Bobby Wade to see how he likes it!

Ugh... I don't mean that, didn't think the play was dirty. It just sucks to see Rodney hurt again.

I am confident we will win as well, and I have faith that Bill will come up with a masterfull gameplan and Brady and co. will deliver. I am just angry about Rodney's injury. It wasnt Belichick's fault for playing his starters. Its the titans fault because Fisher problably told that WR to go for Rodney's knees. F**k the Titans. Even if it was unintentional I am still angry enough that I'll blame them anyways.
