No James Harrison and no Farrior today.

The Patriots medical staff just sent over paramedics to save Gronkowski and Hernandez from drowning in their own drool.

Doesn't matter. We waived Bodden and Barrett didn't make the trip and Dowling is made of glass and Belichick is still the HC... It's a foregone conclusion we're gonna get abused. Brady will be lucky to lead a first down drive all day, and Ben will probably throw for 600 yards.

Wow..

Worilds and Harrison are also sporting injuries.. They've both missed the last 3 weeks..

That puts a dent in their LB corps if one of both of them are also out..

The WR depth of Wallace, Brown and Sanders is pretty good.. The Pats will probably play off them to start, though I think that jamming Wallace at the line is the best way to take him out of the game.

Lawerence Timmons is their ROLB. We should run at him all day long.

Ward news was expected but its good to have him out. I expect Mccourty/Arrington to do a fine job against Wallace/Brown (like last year, most of wallace's stats were in catchup/garbage time).

That leaves Molden with Sanders

this does not bode well for pittsburgh at all.

add these injuries to the others, plus a defense that is schematically a bad match-up against the new england offense, and chances are this defense gets gashed via the run and pass unless someone like woodley overwhelms the ol and the new england offense has an uncharacteristic bad game.

Mandatory double team. Every snap.

Yeah, game thread's gonna be awesome today. Looking forward to three pages of angst after every Pittsburgh completion. Oh well; such is fandom.

By the way, good column by the Globe's Bob Ryan today. Relevant excerpt:

... if the Patriots win today but Ben Roethlisberger throws for 400-plus yards and the final score is a wild-and-woolly 39-35 or so, the emphasis will be on the 400 yards and the 35 points, even more than it will be on the 39 points and the latest W.

Here's the link to the story from today's Globe .

This thread is ridiculous. We all know that ONLY NE has secondary issues. Stop trying to sugarcoat the obvious by trying to talk about the team we are playing.

I, for one, refuse to believe that after 7 weeks, any other team in the NFL has issues like we do. That 5-1 crap is just not gonna cut it around here.

I didn't know about Ward, wow. Our injury situation is delightful compared to theirs.

When was the last time Ward really did anything against the Patriots?

Even if he was playing,it would not have decided this game whatsoever,he is well on his way to retirement.

Antonio Brown,Redman,Miller and Wallace will be the guys to stop from moving the chains.....Mendenhall sucks so I dont see him as a worry.

On defense Keisel is a beast,I love the way he plays the game and of course Woodley is a great player.

Ward contributes a lot ot that offense. He is the best blocking WR in teh NFL by far. He is the primary target and even if he isnt catching passes, he is influencing coverage.

And he also smiles a lot...

Farrior out is to our benefit.. suspect the focus will be long time consuming drives today..

Of course the first series Brady will throw it long downfield at least twice..

But what do I know..

Is Larry Foote active? Steeler fans hate him. Too Slow, can't stop the run, can't cover. Let's hope he starts.

This is actually a blessing in disguise for Pittsburgh. The youth movement has arrived and the speed replacing Ward is incredible. I love Hines, a true Steeler but he has become a liability with the speed going on around him this season. Emmanuel Sanders replaces Ward and Jericho Cotchery (who's mean around the goalline and plays a lot like Hines, not to mention facing N.E's D all those years with the Jets) will also get extensive playing time.

As for Farrior? Another blessing. In all of those matchups against the Pats all those years, Farrior was the slowest and oldest in coverage. He will be replaced by Slyvestor Stevenson, who can hit, hard. Plus, Ziggy Hood, Cameron Heyward, & McClendon have been beasts on the d-line. Lots of youth. This will be a different Steelers team in recent years.

It will be either a Pats crushing or a Steelers surprise. Regardless, I expect to see both teams face each other again soon. Good luck. May there not be any more injuries, haha.

Foote has been starting inside backer for Pittsburgh for 3 weeks since Timmons moved outside to replace Harrison when he went down. Foote is consistent and is a great disguiser. Regardless, Brady will go after him and the young Slyvestor in the middle.

Good then, you will have no excuses. Thankfully for you, the injury Gods have helped Tomlin realize he is playing the wrong players.

Not only is he starting, the only other ILB they have active is Stephenson Sylvester...he of the no career starts and 15 career solo tackles. Safe to say that Brady will look to whoever these guys are covering.
