Peter King reports that it’s a six-year deal worth $9.9 million a year. That’s right in line with what we’ve been hearing for several weeks, that Fitzpatrick was getting close to a deal that would put him solidly within the “second-tier” quarterback club, at around $10 million a year, though not in the “first-tier,” where Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are averaging $18 million a year.

Congrats to Fitz. A journeyman quarterback who no one wanted takes advantage of his opportunity after everyone wrote him off as a stopgap. Goes to show, for many teams who are in a dismal state, there are a few diamonds in the rough if you know how to identify them.

If the Dolphins do wind up drafting Andrew Luck, I expect this division will as competitive as the NFC East year in and year out. It will be Brady, Fitz, Luck, and McElroy.

Heard 6 yrs $59M with $24M guaranteed.
Good for him. A great success story. Like him & the Bills. That said, in the loss against the Jints he was under throwing on the deep outs for picks.

I think Fitz will be a decent QB for the next decade, but I don't see Elite status in his future...more like a Hasslebeck type guy.

Nice kid though

To be fair, the Jets secondary gives EVERY QB fits, even Tom Brady.
Fitzpatrick is a promising young QB. The Bills lucked out on getting him without spending a high draft pick. Fitzpatrick was orginally drafted by the Rams in round 7 of the 2005 draft.

I have no idea what McElroy is doing in the conversation. He injured his thumb in preseason and is currently on IR. He's proven nothing to show he deserves mention with the top QBs in the AFCE. BTW neither has Sanchez.

Jints = Giants NOT Jets

Jets/Buff has yet to be played this year

I'm fine with this. He's a good quarterback, but (even though he beat us this year) he doesn't strike fear into anyone. He's one of those guys that could beat you, but you never have that, "man, how are we going to gameplan against this guy..." kind of feelings. I can live with that in a division rival at the most important position on the team.

Good signing. 6 more years of a decent quarterback and no shot at getting one of the top signal callers the next few seasons.

Idk about him. I mean I just don't think he is intelligent enough to be a a great QB.

Good for him, good for the Bills, good for the Patriots..

he is , imho, a good qb - i'm happy for him

I am indifferent about this signing.

Interesting
What facts lead you to that somewhat remarkable observation?

Saying Ryan Fitzpatrick and "I just don't think he is intelligent enough" should not be mentioned in the same sentence. The guy graduated from Harvard.

He's smart enough to be a QB... I'm sure.

Your sarcasm meter is broken.

He actually turns 29 in less than a month, so not very young.

Solid signing for the Bills though.....I guess
