See what a pretty good poster called Rampage at Steeler Addicts – Pittsburgh Steelers News, Message Board, Forum, Fan Site, Downloads, & Blog posted today. It is fairly representative of what is going on over there. Steelers fans are quite realistic about the strengths and weaknesses of their team this year.

There is little sense of momentum coming off a solid win over the Cardinals.

"The same thing will happen that always happens:
1: Steelers get the ball to start and decide that they are going to establish the run and they quickly three-and-out.
2: Tom Brady gets the ball with decent field position, picks apart the zone and gets a quick TD.
3: The offense again screws the pooch. This time, they run into the line, lose some yardage then miss on a second down play. Ben forces a pass on 3rd & 13 and gets picked off.
4: Brady marches down field to get another TD.
5: The offense finally starts to calm down, they drive down the field, but settle for a FG.
6: Brady gets a drive of his own, but answers with a TD to go into the half 21 - 3.
7: The Patriots get the ball to start the second half and settle for a FG.
8: The Steelers go down field and get a TD on a nice, long drive.
9: Steelers hold the Pats and make them punt.
10: Ben leads the team on another drive, but again settles for a FG.
11: Brady marches down and gets another TD and essentially ends the game.
12: Steelers go down field and get another TD in garbage time to look like they were in the game. 31 - 20

Brady dissects the zone and Roethlisberger/Arians come out so tight in the ass that this team has lost the game before they know what hit them. It happens every time and there is never any response on the part of the Steelers." - Rampage at SteelerAddicts.com

Sounds about right to me. I like this Steelers fan.

Thats probably pretty accurate. Could see that happening.

Perhaps I'm, wrong but, except for the 2004 game, that pretty much sums up the past decade of Pats-Steelers.

Brady hasn't lost to the Steelers since Halloween of 2004 when Dillon was out and Ty Law broke his foot on the first defensive series. No matter how good the Steelers' defense is, Brady usually shreads them. Last year against a much better Steelers' defense, the Pats put 39 points on them.

The Steelers could end up winning the game, but the Pats are usually a bad match up for them. I wouldn't be too optimistic if I was a Steeler fan either.

The over/under should be if the Patrots score 40/500 yards of offense.

The thing the Steelers have going for them is that the Patriots have changed their offense.

Scares me just a tad that this game is on Halloween Weekend in Pittsburgh

Remember the dreadful Halloween game at Pittsburgh in Big Ben's rookie season when he played pretty decent and the Pitt defense got to Brady and we lost ending a 22 game winning streak?.

Hope the Goblins don't return 7 years later

Of course that year ended in a 17-2 record and a title so......

Their run defense has dropped significantly as well.

Lets go Law Firm and Riddley. I see Gronknasty and Hernandez having a big game.

It was October of 2004 .... Halloween night

New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers - Recap - October 31, 2004 - ESPN

The thing the Steelers have going for them is that the Patriots have changed their offense.

Yeah, especially since under this guy's scenario, Roethlisberger wouldn't get a chance at the last drive of the game because the Pats would have eaten up the clock on the ground. Steelers coming in have the #1 defense measured by passing yards by an opponent (not so impressive when you look at who they've played) and #11 in rushing yards by opponents. Pretty good defense but a few recent veteran injuries really hurt against an offense like the Patriots.

one thing im really looking forward to, actually is the pass rush...they looked like they were starting to gel and get at the QB the last 2 games....we were able to get at roethlisberger for 5 sacks last year...im interested to see how they fare this year, especially with the Steelers OL looking weaker...it also puts alot less pressure on our secondary to make a play/stop

brady will be able to put up points, but im looking forward to seeing how this Defense is progressing after 2 solid games and potentially Mayo coming back and hopefully mccourty gathering himself...if our defense can start to live up to the talent they have, the patriots can be even scarier for opponents

also looking to see if this bye week has done anything for Ochocinco and he can finally start to get on the same page with brady

The Steelers do not match up well *at all* vs. the Pats spread. They have no CB who can cover Welker and will get eaten alive by Gronkandez. Their OL is a mess and the Pats' DL is starting to come on strong, particularly Andre Carter with the speed rush.

I see the three Steelers keys to victory as:

1. Pats are too overconfident coming into this game based on last year's result and have a bad game. I don't expect this, but it's not unheard of.

2. Steelers running game is able to move the chains. Pats played well vs. Dallas' running game, so let's see if it's a continuing trend.

3. Big Ben on the move, making plays. He's got the skills, dinged up or not. Always tough to defend, those guys who can get outside the pocket and still make throws.

Regards,
Chris

I wouldn't bet on it...especially this week

Yeah,Carson Palmer is no Brady but Ocho, even in his prime never had a game to remember against the Steelers who he has played against as much as any receiver in the league....Pittsburgh knew how to shut him down when he was gaining 1,200 yards in a season and they probably will do sunday on a much older and much weaker Ocho.

I think the factor at receiver in this game will be Gronkowski....I expect about 150 yards from Gronk...I don't think the Steelers D match up well with this guy...Welker I think will be held under 75

I think we lose this one, on the road against an elite team.

I don't consider the Steelers an elite team this year not to say they won't win though.
