Even with a 2-3 record, Dez Bryant has claimed that no team has beaten the Cowboys this year and no team can beat them this year. I said that Bryant was too stupid to pick up the Patriots' system and that is why I was glad the Pats didn't draft him. Now I have proof.

From the Dallas Morning News:

"I like to keep my personal goals to myself. As far as the team, I like our chances. I feel like, it may sound crazy, I think we are unbeatable. I think the losses, we lost those games ourselves. I feel like once we get back in that meeting room and regroup, and we learn from our mistakes, the sky's the limit."

Dez Bryant speaks out: Cowboys are 'unbeatable,' NFL easier than Big 12 | Dallas Cowboys News - Sports News for Dallas, Texas - SportsDayDFW

Sorry Dez, but the Pats clearly beat you. Even if Garrett was more agressive with his play calling on that drive right before the game winning drive, there was no guarantee that Brady wouldn't have gotten the ball back with about as much time or even more time (if Romo passed for two or three incompletions, that would stop the clock and allow the Pats to conserve time outs). Brady left 27 seconds on the clock when he scored and they burnt some time to score too. So, people put too much stock in the play calling on that drive on why the Cowboys lost.

BTW, if the Cowboys were truly unbeatable, they should never be in position to give away the game at any point never mind three times in five games. Unbeatable means you crush opponents on a regular basis like the Pats did in 2007.

He's got a valid point when it comes to the NY Jet game. That was the day Tony Romo beat the Cowboys.

Dez obviously isn't the brightest bulb but it's pretty obvious to anyone who takes the time to think it through that what he was trying to say was along the lines of nobody has yet proven they can beat the Cowboys (convincingly) but the Cowboys have certainly proven once again they can defeat themselves...

I disagree with your assessment. I think Bryant thinks that the Cowboys were the superior team to every team they played this year and the only reason they lost was because they gave the game away. He said that no one can beat the Cowboys, they can only beat themselves. He didn't say that no one has had a convincing win over the Cowboys. He thinks without those mistakes by the Cowboys, there is no way the Pats, Lions, or Jets would have beaten the Cowboys and when they fix these problems, there is no way anyone can beat them.

You are giving Bryant too much credit. If he didn't say the Cowboys were unbeatable, then I would agree with you. But I think he really thinks that.

For what it's worth, I actually think the Cowboys are going to be right in the mix come the end of the year. I picked a Pats-Cowboys Super Bowl and I'm not changing my pick yet. The talent is there, they just need to get it all together.

I have no problem with his statement, he's trying to hype the team up, since they are a bunch of frontrunners anyway. Whatever works, better than saying "we suck, we choke in big games".

They were a little better for about 57 minutes.

Does that mean at the end of the season we will be saying the were unbeatable 16 times but beat themselves 8?

This "most talented team in the NFL" thing apparently never gets old in Dallas or San Diego.

I think he means playoffs too. So if they lose in the playoffs, that means they 'beat themselves', since obviously theyre unbeatable. ;)

8 wins and 8 beaten by themselves isnt going to qualify them for the playoffs.

Whatever he meant, his comment about the Big12 gives me very little faith he understands what he's saying. In the Big12 a couple years ago, every game was a 50-45 shootout. They literally played no defense in that league.

Lots of NFL teams have the talent to be unbeatable if they play 100% perfectly without mistakes, no? The problem is that executing consistently is a skill in itself, one that you can't just snap your fingers and make happen.

But if Bryant is just trying to psych his team up and remind them that the NFCE is still ripe for the taking, that's fine. :confused2:

Damn Dez, stop hitting your mother's crack rock. Jeff Ireland was right all along.

Please...The Pats outplayed the Cowboys, and they needed every mistake to go their way for the game to be competitive, IMO!

NFL Jeopardy with Dez Bryant, Merriweather. and Cromartie would be very entertaining.

to be fair, Romo gave them the the losses to the Jets/Lions..

the patriots as a team beat them outright...Romo played a pretty good game while Brady looked horrible until that final drive.

I think Dez Bryant doesn't understand the NFL. Every week we see that the good teams are the ones that don't give games away, and sorry, that's not the Cowboys. Like OP said, the only "unbeatable" teams are the ones that are so much better than everyone else that they are never in position to give the game away, which certainly isn't the Cowboys.

I was slightly more annoyed by his comment that the "pros is much easier" on the basis that he's not double covered every play. First of all, sorry that you're not good enough to demand a double team. Second, how about you get some production before talking about how easy it is? Sure he's made some impressive catches, but his disappearing act in the second half of critical games isn't so nice. Also, what the hell system are the running over in Dallas if a guy like Dez Bryant says it's easy?

the cowboys will go as far as Romo takes them for better or for worse....the guy is the Lebron James of QB's.

alot of physical talent at his position and can do things that make you go "wow how can they stop him" and then the next second some switch goes on and he chokes and throws the game away

Exactly. Certain people claim that the Cowboys keep losing because of their mistakes, but in reality the Patriots probably had even more mistakes in that game.
