For a 1st round pick in 2012 and conditional 1st round pick in 2013. Maybe it was not crazy Al who was making those trades because that is WAY too much to give up for Palmer.

I'd trade them Mallet for a single 1st :)

They are a playoff caliber team but their QB is Kyle Boller. They know they can kiss the playoffs goodbye with Boller, so they are somewhat justified in overpaying for Palmer, who gives them a decent chance of making the playoffs.

This could put the Raiders franchise back a decade if it doesn't work. They would virtually have no 2012 draft. I take back anything back I've ever said about Al Davis, because he must have been the sane one in that organisation

I definitely dont think palmer at his age is worth 2 #1s; but i guess it depends on the conditions.

if the conditional 1 is; if they win the SB; ok. if it is based on onfield time or something that doesnt equate to success then it is dumb. I mean they are going to put him out there and he will get yards and some # of tds.

I would say he is worth a 1 and a 3 (2013) with conditions to up it to a 2 (or a 1 for a SB).

Getting Palmer at a reasonable price (1st and 3rd) would be a great move for the Raiders. They are a decent team with Campbell as QB (out -broken collarbone) and could be a playoff contender with Palmer.

I think it was a stupid move for the Raiders. Of course it will help them this year but two 1st round picks? Those two picks could have really helped them prepare that team for the future. All I can think is that Carson Palmer will fail just like McNabb failed ever since leaving the Eagles.

Palmer was pretty much exposed for what he is down the stretch last season. Almost ten months removed from the field due to his trade me or I quit mentality, Oakland will regret this move like they have most of them in the last decade. Many claim he was never the same after the ACL. I think he was never what the media hyped him to be before it. He's not accountable or mentally tough. He's another big arm who never worked on the finer points of his own game or the game. He can put up some gaudy empty yards, but he can't make an easy or smart play when a game or his teams season is on the line.

What the hell? Is this real? Looks like when the Raiders said they would continue on in the spirit of Al Davis they would continue on with the horrible decisions.

Two first round picks for Palmer? Seriously? He's not even worth a single second round pick. Probably not even worth a THIRD round pick. He's looked incredibly average the last couple years. TWO first rounders? Is this real? LOL.

The Bengals have positioned themselves to be contenders in the future and can literally get anyone they want in the upcoming drafts (Except maybe Luck). This is one of the worst trades in recent memory. Bengals got 2 firsts for a guy that wasn't even playing for the team. God damn it Raiders, just when things were looking up.

I THOUGHT I knew QBs better than most fans. But clearly I didn't. I used to be a big fan of McNabb his 1st couple years. Same with Palmer. But sadly I soon realized that both were teases at best.

Apparently it's a 2012 #1 and a 2013 conditional pick that will be a #2 but could become another #1. No word on what the condition is... He's in Oakland having his physical. Apparently the Raiders were also considering Vince Young...

Whoa! I'm kinda a skeptical science based guy, but this behavior is making me a believer in either curses or interference from the grave!

Palmer to me is a poor man's Drew Bledsoe. To use the Butch from the Cape line, He's big has a good arm, he's big.....Palmer always throw the big interception at the wrong time. With the rookie salary structure, a good young defense, a decent O-Line and some good young talent at the skill positions the Bengals with a decent couple of drafts could be a contender.

It's one thing to get tasered in the nuts by Bellichick and it's another when Mike Brown is doing it. A first and a conditional first, wow.

Wow! Even Al Davis wouldn't have made this trade. Potentially two first round picks for a washed up QB. This is crazy. Goodell should step in and take control of the Raiders for the good of the league. Congratulations to Mike Brown for fleecing the Raiders.

Even if Palmer was still good, that is way too much for a QB who is 32.

Look men we got literally no 2007 draft now and we look good.

Draft is overrated. This trade is insane, but draft is overrated

Carson Palmer doesn't have the arm to be an nfl qb since his torn rotator cuff. Also he hasn't been the same capable pocket passer since his ACL. This is the worst trade I have ever seen in the NFL since the Saints Ricky Williams trade. I really don't understand how they didn't take a look at Matt Flynn or Brian Hoyer who both could've been had for second rounders, most certainly not a number 1 this year and possibly next.

Crappy trades for established NFL that come to mind that aren't nearly as bad at the onset:

Roy Williams to Dallas-Young stud receiver for a 1st and third (i think) who then became a sucky one in Dallas.

The Herschel Walker Deal:18 players and pick crazyness where Minnesota believed they were getting the greatest NFL player ever.

Daunte Culpepper: A second round pick for QB suck.

Donovan McNabb: For a second rounder as well

So the raiders are almost done w. their 2012 draft picks.
1st-Carson.
2nd-Pats
3rd-Comp draft for the Idiot QB.
4th-Jason Campbell.

Probably have a 5th, 6th and 7th and I think they will get a compensation pick for Nanmdi. Possibly a 3rd. Maybe a 7th for the TE they lost to Seattle.

Remember that comp picks are not based solely on players lost. It's possible to lose great free agents, sign JAGs to replace them, and NOT get comp picks.
