Seriously ESPN must be having its lowest viewership ratings during the MNF games this season.....
look at the remaining MNF games
Miami at NY Jets
Baltimore at Jacksonville
San Diego at Kansas City
Chicago at Philadelphia
Minnesota at Green Bay
Kansas City at New England
NY Giants at New Orleans
San Diego at Jacksonville
St. Louis at Seattle :confused::confused:
Pittsburgh at San Francisco
Atlanta at New Orleans

The games in blue are the only ones which i guess a person from a neutral fan base may watch. The Rams Seahawks game may end up having the lowest number of viewers this year for a MNF game.

Yeah, they kind of guessed wrong about who was going to be good. The first game of the season was good though! (For us anyway!). This game tonight has interest in the northeast, but I agree - a lot of them are snoozers, guaranteed to be a blow-out one way or another, or a battle between two bad teams.

Monday Night Football is no longer the marquee game anymore. Now that it isn on cable, Sunday Night Football has become the marquee game. MNF gets a lot of mediocre games although prior to the season, some of these games looked like marquee match ups.

I think you guys need to check the ratings. I'm pretty sure MNF is still #1 by a wide margin.

It is awful. especially the ESPN guys and pregame shows.

The "comon man" segment makes the old "jacked up" segment look like The Godfather.

Steve Young is slowly losing his mind. He rambles, changing the volume of his voice, praying that nobody is actually listening to the words.

Stuart Scott is awful and only still has a job b/c he got hit in the eyeball with a football on the job and they can't fire him.

They do a stupid intro to the espn pregame show where they show all the washed up losers doing things before Monday Night Football. For instance, you see Keyshawn getting his laundry, Boomer reading by a fireplace, and Tom Jackson cooking a hot pocket. Nobody gives a **** about these losers.

its the equivalent of having Screech do the Superbowl commentary. You are going to watch it b/c its the Superbowl, but we all know Screech sucks.

yea I think MNF and Sunday night has been boring this year.... maybe b/c i just like watching Pats games... but there are a lot of good shows that come on monday nighht

A few years ago the NFL made the decision to make SNF more of a marquee game than MNF. Ratings and interest in MNF had been declining for a while so the switch was made.

In fairness to both SNF and MNF, they have to take what is available after FOX and CBS protect certain games, plus predict which teams/games will be interesting prior to the draft - and this year, prior to free agency too.

Here are the games as they looked back then, after the 2010 season:

Week 1, Pats-Dolphins: division rivalry featuring team w/best 2010 regular season record

Week 1, Raiders-Broncos: division rivalry w/up and coming team that almost made the playoffs

Week 2, Giants-Rams: two teams that missed the playoffs on tiebreakers

Week 3, Cowboys-Redskins: two teams with huge fanbases

Week 4, Bucs-Colts: Bucs just missed the playoffs; Manning always a big draw

Week 5, Lions-Bears: division rivalry; up and coming team vs team good enough to earn a bye and make it to NFCCG in '10

Week 6: Dolphins-Jets: division rivalry game featuring most hyped team of 2010

Week 7: Ravens-Jags: Baltimore was one of four teams with 12 wins last year, Jags were an 8-8 playoff contender

Week 8: Chargers-Chiefs: division rivalry game between the long-time best AFCW team vs last year's AFCW champ

Week 9: Bears-Eagles: both were playoff teams in 2010

Week 10: Vikings-Packers: division rivalry game featuring last year's league champions

Week 11: Chiefs-Pats: both were playoff teams in 2010

Week 12: Giants-Saints: 10-6 team vs 11-5 playoff team

Week 13: Chargers-Jags: two teams that just missed the playoffs last year

Week 14: Rams-Seahawks: division rivalry; last year came down to a tiebreaker for playoffs between these two

Week 15: Steelers-49ers: 12-4 playoff team vs up and coming team

Week 16: Falcons-Saints: division rivalry game between two playoff teams

The matchups may not look as enticing now, but I'm not sure what the NFL and espn could have done better back in April in choosing more interesting games.

I didn't even see it and I agree those things are stupid to watch.

I would like to see Jackson overcook a hot pocket and have it explode on his face and leave scads of hot, molten cheese until he's disfigured like the Joker, though.

Now you've gone too far. I'd watch every week if Screech was on there. Maybe they could compromise and have him sing the Hank Williams song in his Screech voice. That's entertainment.

Why you gotta be a hater, Keegs?

Holy f*ck. What a horrible schedule.

i guess you didn't get the memo

back when the major network got sunday night football, and MNF was shipped off to cable (espn) , the marquee games and flex scheduling was given to sunday night football

MNF became just a reason to try and get as many teams as possible, on MNF in one season.

Meh, a lot of those games will get flexed out.

Can't flex out Monday night games due to change of travel arrangements for the teams, fans, networks & media covering the game, etc. - you can only do that with Sunday night games.

As jcdavey pointed out, the NFL made a conscious decision a few years ago to shift the marquee prime time night game from Monday to Sunday, and make that the culmination of a full day of watching the NFL. The second-tier game that used to be on SNF got moved over to MNF at that point in time.

Who threw the football at Stuart Scott?

I hate ESPN too, but their pre-game show is much more entertaining than the one on Fox & NBC. The one on NBC is just plain boring. And you think Steve Young is losing his mind, you should try listening to Terry Bradshaw and Strahan. I can barely understand what they're saying and I get headaches trying to figure it out. I'm stuck with ESPN and CBS because I got too many trees in the backyard for Dish.
