No offense, but do you say anything positive? This defense on how it progressing could be a top third defense. It won't be an elite defense, but it doesn't need to be. Besides, there is only one team playing dominant defense most weeks and it is Baltimore.

Niners say Hi :)

BTW, how does she get into that outfit?
Does it matter as long as she's out of it?

As for the Defense, it seems (with an effective Haynesworth), we were able to get that push in the middle and dial up the effectiveness of all of the other defensive players. Haynesworth may not have had one of those stat sheet games, but he made other defenders better and we brought out the pressure package/blitzes from the preseason.

This is a sample of the how the patriots can dictate on defense and make the secondary look better. Also, this is a game where Romo didn't give the game away, we went ahead and took it from them (both sides offense and defense).

4 turnovers and a win means we had to play good ball to pull out a win (both sides Offense and Defense).

I have seen the improvement coupled with more creative Defensive play calling. This, along with the goal line and red area improvement, should prove interesting down the stretch.

Brother Relo raises a very important FootBall point, here. :snob:

Well said, sir.

HaynesWorth's Impact can NOT be overstated!! :rocker:

my opinion was not as exaggerated negative as you say

The defense certainly has improved from week 1 to now and hopefully will keep it going BUT my point is the OP refers the possibility that the defense will resemble the Pats defense of the mid decade when our defense was among the top, thats a far reach.

I would settle for a realistic mid pack defense similar to last season with more pass rush in the playoffs....The Colts and Saints won SBs with this type.

Hope this improvement in the D is a trend and not a temp thing.

We play the Steelers in 2 weeks. Let's hope Guyton improves, Ras heals up and Mayo is back.

Honestly, I think very few fans fully grasp the vast potential of this Defense.

1 ~ Once HaynesWorth starts consistently dominating...he and Wilfork could eclipse what Adams and Siragusa once accomplished.

2 ~ Once Dowling comes back, having him, Bodden, and McCourty flying around at full speed could be DEVASTATING.

3 ~ Once Brown, Barrett, and Ihedigbo get comfortable, our last weak spot is VAPOR...and we may already be there!!

4 ~ Once Mayo comes back, with Spikes really starting to rock, the MidFielders could TERRIFY the Enemy.

5 ~ And if only we had a Pass Rush...

Oh.

WAIT.

We DO have a Pass Rush!!

Honestly, gents...

I think these last 2 weeks have only been the beginning.

I think we've only seen a GLIMPSE of what this Defense will bring forth...THIS YEAR!! :rocker:

It's fun to watch them improve. In 05 and 06 it seemed like they had the pieces but guys were getting dinged and they had trouble covering up for some of the vets who were on the back 40. 07 to 10 constant retooling and needing to play with a lead. Now they seem like they have the pieces and are tightening up. The nervous nelly in me worries about some of the age on the DL, but hey I'm a NE'er I gotta have something to complain about.

Nicely summed up, sir.

We are well on our way BACK.

And I do believe that we're living the Final Stage of our Return.

You should be complemented on how colorfully and graphically you make your point.

Thank you, Brother StanFord. :D

As you know, 7 of 9 is all about the FootBall.

I try to write eloquently, yes...

But sometimes it is best to defer to others ~ like 7 of 9 ~ who are wiser in the ways of this Great Game.

:D Resistance is FUTILE. :D
