So, I was visiting some 'boys forums, and found this thread pretty interesting:

Who was better: '90s Cowboys or '00s Patriots? - Dallas Cowboys Forums - CowboysZone.com

Basically, its a comparison between who's better: the 90's cowboys, or the 00's Patriots. Along with a link to an video: "Tim MacMahon goes toe-to-toe with ESPNBoston's Mike Reiss to debate the topic" (ESPN Dallas and ESPN Boston's Hot Button topic: Which was the better dynasty -- '90s Cowboys or '00s Patriots? - ESPN Dallas)

As would be expected in a cowboys forum, 99% said cowboys. I'm just curious if we're as biased.

I'm guessing it'll be like 90% pats were better on this forum. Expected of course.

But it does make you think, with all the changes in 10 years, who would have been better? Being the Pats homer I am, I have to say '00 Pats of course, but thats also because I don't think the cowboys could have done what we've done in the ERA of Free Agency. On the other hand, I have to give credit to some of their points, such as being able to keep their best players and so they would be better than us cuz they could keep their best players, whereas we have to deal with FA and let go some of our best players (law/milloy come to mind?).

EDIT: Sorry dang, didn't realize that you had to sign up for that message board. My bad. Can't edit poll either /sigh.

I think the cowboys were more talented, but i think what the patriots did was more impressive.

The Pats were never the most talented team in the league....even when they were winning 3 SB's in the early 2000's. But....they were disciplined, beautifully coached in all facets (BB, Romeo, Weis...and always Dante)...and that obviously overrides pure talent.

But in the most important position....QB....they had IMHO the best ever to play the positon in TFB.

The semantics of the question also bring into play the ability of the 90's Cowboys to keep the team together due to the rules of the league at the time....this to me makes what the Pats did all the more impressive.

Its a good question and a good discussion, but it will never be answered succintly and finally.....all for the better......2 dominant teams in 2 different eras.

But in the spirit of looking at the numbers......the 2000 Pats would run roughshod over the 90 Cowboys just due to the size of the OL/DL...Its really not close guys.....they wouldn't really need TFB.....and Emmit Smith would have minimum holes to run through.....I hate to frame it that way due to the differnt era...but that is the name of that tune.

The 90's Cowboys would be hard pressed to compete against most any 2000's team.

Hard to say but as far as HOFers go,I think the 90s Cowboys had more players who will go down as some of the greatest ever at their position
