The NFL and NFL Players Association will begin testing for Human Growth Hormone as early as next week, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello announced Friday, via Twitter .

The NFL and the players union met with leaders of a House committee to discuss testing for HGH, which had hit a snag despite an agreement in the latest collective bargaining agreement to begin testing players.....

Woah.

Some big names could get outed. Hope no Pats involved.

Peyton, could we have a blood sample, please............................

The Steelers won't be able to field a team in two weeks if they are tested

I don't like it. I really think a lot of players uses this. Faced with a short time to make money, I would not want to use two years recovering from injury.

There should be at least one warning before any banning begins.

Ugh...my first thought went to Welker. So wrong. But it was a quick recovery. Ugh.

Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing come to mind for this stuff...

I'm another that would rather not see testing suddenly implemented. I'd be a shame if there were a slew of suspensions because of this.

Having personally witnessed the amazing capabilities of this natural substance on one of my children, and given its lack of a downside when used responsibly, I'd rather the league allow its use for recovery from injuries, under a physicians guidance, in appropriate dosing. What they are asked to do with their bodies is ridiculous and this seems like a reasonable compromise.

I am curious what threshold they have determined is illegal.

My personal trainer makes a killing selling it to celebs!

There goes 50 players for a while

Considering the amount of "4 game suspensions" on the horizon, I wonder how badly the coaches are going to have to raid what is left of a Free Agent market to field a full roster.

Rex Ryan will be the first to get caught :rocker:

I have no idea why HGH is even banned, to be honest. Players recovering faster is a bad thing?

I'd be surprised if this doesn't back fire on the NFL as some big name guys get caught using.

This isn't steroids.

I didn't care when Rodney Harrison had it and wouldn't really care if other Patriots used it.

Unless they already have baselines, or a new test, players will have time to get clean.

This will be interesting. I don't think pats have anyone on them though. I'd keep an eye on clay mathews though...

This isn't steroids.
HGH is an anabolic agent, it builds muscle mass in the same way that steroids do. The reason it's against the rules (and has been for a long time, even though they're just starting testing for it) is because once some players are using it, everyone will need to use it to remain competitive. While a guy could use it to come back from injury faster, they would also gain other advantages in parts of their body that weren't injured, and we'd have an arms race (sorry, pun intended). Throw the book at anyone who's caught, no matter what team they play for.

How do you think this? The NFL are only doing this because of the unknown side effects.
I actually think with control use of HGH, one can live well into their hundreds.

Of course you don't.

Good news! Mayo, just like Hernandez has recovered far more quickly than anticipated!!!

Oh, wait...
