Team have room under the salary cap including the Pats, the draft picks have become more valuable due to the rookie scale and a few teams are pushing hard for the Suck for Luck sweepstakes.

Think BB will recognize this and will work a few trades to get veterans for cheap from Indy and Denver. Mathis, Dawkins of DJ Williams would be awesome additions for the Pats run at the Lombardi!

I don't think the Pats will make any moves.

I don't think Belichick and Polian would make a deal. Could be wrong but, I don't see that happening.

As much as I would like to see a bona-fide pass rusher, I don't see it happening.

Since when did the Pats do something that you thought they will do? They actually do what I don't think lol

By Dawkins, I asume you mean Denver safety Brian Dawkins, a 16 (!) year veteran who turned 38 yesterday. I have no idea how much he has left in the tank but he does have a strong reputation as a stand up guy. A veteran safety with strong leadership qualities would be a great addition, provided he can still play.

Would be very surprised if the Pats do anything significant..

Agreed. If we make any move, it will be a minor one. That's why the Curry trade made sense to me. A 7th rounder and a conditional for a rotational guy and a possible special teams contributor.

That's why I said "unusually". Based on past experience, we wouldn't see much. However, I think BB will be the 1st to realize that he can get quality veteran players for a discounted price. He values draft picks, because it gives him flexibility to take advantage of opportunities and this will be a significant opportunity to poach from teams who are dumping. It's similar to the years we feel have good talent in the draft and we use our picks. Polian and Elway know they can't just purposely lose games so putting a mediocre team on the field by trading and IR'ing their veterans is their only option.

BB and polian are working on a secret trade to unite all the Gronks in New England it as to be secret because if it get release to early there would end of time worries

Nobody's gonna gift-wrap the Pats a pass rusher. A safety would be nice though, but considering how bad safety play is across the league, I'm doubting we can trade for a good one. Football trading deadline just isn't like other sports. Trades are pretty rarely made in comparison to the other major sports. Not sure why that is. Never say never though. Anything can happen. I mean who saw BB trading for Haynesworth right??

The trading activity is usually low because of the tight salary cap (noone has room so trades need to balance out and teams can't take the hit of accelerated signing bonuses). Also, football is a team sport no other where practice and reps are crucial to how a player performs. Players joining a team in the middle of the season find it hard to perform at a high level because they aren't aren't familiar with the system. However, with a shortened offseason, many players are less prepared than before and adding a new player to the system is more likely because they don't have as big a disadvantage as prior years due to the fewer padded practices.

I dont neccessarily agree that it will be an active trade deadline but I can see reasons why it could be.

I think much more than available cap space would be the fact that teams could not make any trades this offseason as TC started before the transactions could be made. Then I think teams were much more worried about filling out a 90 man roster and evaluating those guys then they were in trades. Then sometimes you see trades at the cutdown deadlines but each team had to cut an additional 10 players more than normal and I think teams were hesitant to trade for someone who very well could be cut. (I think this is very much the reason why we were not able to find trade partners for Merriweather, Sanders, or anyone else)

All that being said there are certainly guys out there like Curry that teams may have unloaded in the offseason that teams may finally get around to trying to trade.
