So much for the fond farewells posted by many, yesterday the Patriots brought back incredibly offensive lineman Thomas Welch. Tom Brady's safe while Welch stays on the Practice Squad.

Please join me by bowing your heads and praying for good health for the offensive line so that Thomas "The Usher" Welch doesn't get activated and Tom Brady killed.

Based on what I saw last week, this is one of the few instances where I can say I've never met the guy, but I hate him.

Kidding of course......kind of.

Really? Hate is pretty strong. For me to hate a guy on my team he's got to have something akin to John Lackey's magical formula of on-field douchebag + off-field major douchebag + sucktastic production + lockerroom cancer.

Let's take it easy on the guy. Hopefully he will learn from whatever mistakes he's made and come back strong. Hopefully he'll get another shot and do right by it.

I don't mind him on the team for depth at least until he learns his role better, but I certainly don't want him playing as much as he did last week.

Tito never manned up enough to say that. The guys were a bunch of a-holes, but the manager never seemed to do or say a thing about it. He supported "Lacks" to the end.

Had to chuckle over "Thomas 'the usher' Welch" haha nice

And look where it got him. Tito and Lackey's recently divorced-while-going-through-cancer-treatment now ex-wife should form a support group of people whose lives were ruined by John Lackey. Hell, I'd probably join in on the fun.

But I digress, carry on about Thomas Welch, nothing to see here.

So how do you feel about Welch's execution?

I'm all for it.

Channeling my inner Alan Iverson ...

We're talking PRACTICE squad

PRACTICE squad

- We're not talking about a starter
- We're not talking about a backup on the gameday roster
- We're not talking about a gameday inactive on the 53-man roster.

We're talking about a Practice Squad signing!

A practice squad signing is going to cause Brady to just throw the ball away and apparently doom the season?

No offense, but I'm editing the thread title for clarity because it implies Welch is on the 53-man roster (and that he'll be playing Sunday).

you shouldn't have to edit a thread like this...the O.P. should get the story straight before going off into premature ejaculation land...

Was he taking lessons from Vlad " The Matatdor" Ducasse when not with Dante? ;)

As the original poster, Practice Squad is prominent in caps in the post. Sorry if it need to be in the title as well.

And, this was not personal at all. Welch let Jamaal Westerman sack Brady unabated last week on the only sack the Jesters recorded in a non-blitz situation and may not be "the guy" we want guarding TFB's blind spot.

Apologies for any error in clarification.

Oooh, so he was playing the role of an usher, that explains a lot. I thought he was playing matador myself. :D

Thanks for the clarification. Tom Brady can sleep better at night now. ;)

;)

If you watch the tape in high def, just before the snap you can see Welch say to Westerman: "May I show you to your quarterback, sir?"
