He was on Sirius NFL radio and he says he has seen zero improvement from the Pats defense from week one to last week. He said the Pats were just as bad a defense against the Jets as they were against the Dolphins week one or Chargers week 2.

So the Pats caused seven three and outs on 11 drives is not an improvement? The Pats' defense haven't transformed into the 2000 Ravens, but anyone who says the Pats defense wasn't significantly better this past Sunday than it was week #1 is either a blind hater or moron. Even against the Raiders, the defense showed marked improvement when especially when you realize that the Raiders got 99 yards passing and TD in garbage time (which no one seems to want to acknowledge).

Yes, this defense has a ways to go to be good, but to not acknowledge they have been getting better the last few weeks is just stupid.

I missed his comments but Gannon is usually anything but a hater. He's generally very complimentary to the Pats and if memory serves me correctly has them as his pick to win the SB this year.

our points per game average for the season is 23 and we let up 21 so on that note he is right.

Others might make the point that the Jets were stupid for not throwing more and when they did it looked like they would be as successful as anyone else has been.

But I perfer to just look at it as a work in progress and nothing could look worse than the first few weeks. By no means should anyone be happy with the defensive play so far this season though.

Well, I'm not really that excited about limiting the potent Jets offense.

I mean I'm not convinced they could score on every drive if there was no defense on the field at all.

Maybe he just hates the Jets putrid offense and feels that even the Little Sisters of the Poor could stop The Sanchize?

that's an excellent point. This defense may be worse than no defense at all. BB should instruct them to just stand there and watch the play if it's a pass play. They have a good chance of dropping the ball or missing the pass. On running plays though, unless they trip over themselves, patriots would be better than no defense...after all they do tackle, albeit 5-7 yards down field.

Rob, I don't understand your love/hate relationship with the radio? Have you tried turning it off?

The Pats offense caused 8 three and outs the first four weeks and 7 three and outs vs. the Jets.

Also, the Jets passed more than they ran (26 pass, 25 runs). The fact they "gave up on the pass" is overrated. Yes, they passed more percentage-wise than previous weeks, but when you go three and out on on seven of eleven drives you aren't going have that many passes.

I am encouraged how the defense has progressed over the last two weeks, but not estatic with the play. But it is still foolish to say the defense hasn't improved over the last few weeks.

It's just a topic to discuss. Why not discuss it when a talk show host makes a foolish comment. I'm sorry if I am distracting everyone from the Jets' Non-Spygate story. I can't get enough discussing how the Jets cheated against the Pats if they hadn't actually followed the rules of videotaping on the sidelines to the letter.

Why is Gary Guyton on this team is a better question .. I've never hated a human being more than Guyton, and I don't even know him ... carry on:bricks:

I'd say they only caused four three and outs. The Jets had unforced issues on the other three.

Too bad nobody could ask Rich why the "bad" defense limited the Chargers to season low points or if defense is really "bad" when it half the yards the Dolphins get are late in the 4th quarter down 3 TD's.

This is similiar to the Patriotsdaily article on Revis Island. It's become accepted so they just keep rehashing the same stupid things and all points get reverted back.

Besides if these guys didn't say anything stupid, where would our village challenged types get any ideas?

I get stuck with his announcing a lot, watching the stupid browns. He's a moron.

Yeah

Outside of New England, unforced errors are not applicable in the NFL.

LOL

Predictable outcome when people double down on stupid.

I see a slight improvement in the D. They gave up two long TD drives to the Jets (78 yards & 75 yards) but that was it. The Jets other TD drive was 20 yards.

The Cowboys O has been all over the place this season but should present a good test for the D.

Our defense is not great..... but it's tough to say it's not getting better. I think that when AH is in the game, our defense is better. He really doesn't register on the stat sheet much........ but it's pretty apparent that his presence rattles QB's just enough for them to get rid of the ball a little early, causing either Ints or incompletions.

Defensively, we have played our better games on w 1,2 and 5. Coincidently, AH was only active for those 3 games.

Why he's not that bad of a player?

Sanchez should get half credit for some of those 3 and outs.
