My favorite call of the game.

This game was fun to watch because the Jets are a good team and in many ways they played them like a fiddle. I loved late in the game when they were running over them and switched to a run defense and got them to third down. Out of the time out I was curious what they would call. the direct snap out of shotgun to Ben Jarvis was simply brilliant.

Hats off to the staff for that one.

This is nothing new. They've had the snap go to Faulk many many times, generally with great success.

No, it's not new. But using it in that situation (I generally recall its use mainly for 2 point conversions) especially when the announcers were yapping about how Rex needed to show one of the secret blitzes he saves up for Brady, was brilliant.

That was priceless, he usually saves a few exotic defenses plays for situations just like this. I laughed my ass off when he said that.

So funny, when I saw the title of your thread, I was thinking (before I opened it), that direct snap to Benny was pretty sweet! It was a brilliant call and Brady did a good job of faking the ole snap over the head. You could just see the D hesitating for a split second to determine where the ball was, and by then, Benny was by them for the first down.

Loved this play call as well. No it's nothing new but, that's irrelevant. Who cares if it's new or not? It was a wonderful call for that situation as evidenced by the success. Don't see it all that often, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it. And more I portantly see it work.

Speaking of Faulk (and in another thread they were discussing PUP players) do you think he comes back? He has been on the sidelines every game it seems, either coaching up or encouraging the other RBs. Who do they cut if they activate him?

I also liked the call on the following 3rd down during that final drive.
Brady's under center instead of shotgun, so the Jesters have to respect the possibility of the run.
He then takes a couple of quick steps backwards, and throws it to the biggest target on the field: Gronk.

I've seen other teams use this play to great success, and the key to it is earning the defense's respect
of the running game, so the QB starts under center. It's just a matter of hitting the target
over the drawn-in LBs & in front of the DBs.
With a QB like TFB, and a TE like Gronk, this is nearly unstoppable.

When even a pass-first offense seriously commits to the run, this can be the result
through plays like this: moving chains, killing clock, victory formation.

Was wondering what people thought about this as well. I mean if an injury to RB occurs, then I'd say definitely. If not, then Im not sure how they do it, especially with the RB position being a little crowded.

If anyone has any ideas how I'd be interested too.

And BTW I can totally see, and would love to see Faulk join the coaching staff at some point in the future.

These are two of my favorite plays ever. Just look at the execution and how well they sell the fake. Can any one provide a better video?

What I liked best about the play was at the end. Cromartie was there to make the tackle on BJGE, but he acted like he didn't want to touch him, kind of like he looked at his teammate and said I'm out.

What also made that call successful was Welker's blocking of Kyle Wilson. He engaged Wilson immediately,
then rode him outside & eventually behind the run.
If someone like Hernandez had been in Welker's spot, a bigger player would likely have been lined-up opposite him, and that would've made his elimination from the tackle much more difficult.
But because of Welker's blocking skill, determination & toughness, a mere DB was all that stood btwn the Law Firm & a 1st down.

Yes, the direct snap was great at that moment. I thought they usually call it in the red zone, so it caught me off guard.

My favorite was the TD to Branch when Brady seen the blitz was coming and kept calling for Welker to get in tighter to the line and Wes stopped the blitzing LB and Brady hit Branch for the TD. awesome!!
