He's only on their practice squad. If they wanted him back they could get him.

Yeh, but it's still Saban poaching. I was looking for him to sign a futures contract soon.

Gus friggin' Scott is out of position on too many plays...

Saban may be crazy .... but certainly he cannot be stupid enough
to think he will glean anything from Gus Scott other than the stained turf imprinted uniform of Gus Scott ... (Hey Saban...beware ... noticable wear on the back end from being shoved backwards all the time).

You've gotten your wish, a NEMpost if I ever stepped in one. All-Pro can't be far off now.

I would guess they're not the same pals they used to be.

I'd guess the same. Doubt they sit in the stands together and scout the draft prospects (like they used to). Divisional rivals make for fewer phone consultations too. Mutual respect will not be severed however...

Scott: Had high hopes for him when he was drafted. It's easy to see why Saban is interested -- BB and he like the same kind of player (especially DBs).

Big freaking deal. Scott = total bust. He is no M. Hill but he is close.

He has done nothing to prove he is more than the 60th player on a roster. The Dolphins can have him and any other player that can't even beat out two punters to make a practice squad.

2006 Summary
- He was cut by the Patriots (twice)
- He was cut by Houston (repeat cut by the Texans)
- He was cut by the Jets

I may be missing other teams that cut him as well. Look at our Safeties under contract next year, is he better than any of them?

Harrison, Wilson, Hawkins, Sanders, Andrews plus Mitchell & Jones

The most remarkable thing about Gus Scott is to me he looks like the rapper 50 cent.

Total bust. They didn't even grab him from the pats practice squad. He didn't make that. Straight from the team to the trash heap.

I remember when they drafted him, I was like, "who"? He was the 20th ranked safety on one list I saw.

Plus he's like 5'10", 195, but seemed smaller when trying to tackle.

Saban is definitely crazy and apparently stupid because nothing else explains him going for a tying field goal against the Jets with 3 minutes to go instead of going for the 1st down on 4th down/1 yard to go on the Jets seven yard line.

Even if he had not made it chances are Miami would have gotten the ball back in great field position with enough time for a field goal but by going for the 1st down and then a TD the Jets would likely have had no time left to score a TD to win.

The point is non-playoff bound Miami had nothing to lose by going for a TD at the end of the game and everything to gain by trying to knock out the Jets without playing in overtime.

His practice squad contract will expire soon...

Perhaps Belichick was coaching
'Fitty' Cent instead of Scott???

Trivia question ... who spent more time on their
back in an NFL game ... Gus Scott or Max Lane?

We can expect the demise of the Shadow Roster as Saban and Mangini will pick up anyone released by BB who is told to leave their toothbrush. Esp. DB's.

shall we discuss the vast number of former Dolphins that "Brain" and his Patriots have plucked the past 5-6 years?

or would you prefer to fret guys like Gus Scott?

Was anyone complaining about poaching when we signed Heath Evans?
No, they were complaining about bottom feeding and how much the Pats sucked on their way to the Playoffs again.

Signing someone off the Dolphins' shadow roster isn't poaching, it's a rescue. ;)

They should be complaining about us making a football player out of him after the Fish gave up.
