Going back to the draft I know alot of us pats would have been happy taking dez but we trade down and devin ended up being the surprise pick. I dont want to sway opinions or stear the conversation in the 1st post so ill just let you guys take it from here :D

Too early to tell... waiting to see if McCourty is back on track.

We'll find out next Sunday. ;)

McCourty has played well the last few games. The fact we haven't heard from him is a good thing. Bryant is injury prone and up and down. One game is a stud and the next not so much.

McCourty is not a good man to man CB, but a damn good zone coverage one. He has locked down his side of the field the last few games.

It'd be interesting to see them matched up together. But I'll take McCourty.

Bryant is an extremely explosive player with a ton of potential, but he still hasn't come close to harnessing it all and becoming a consistent player. His behaviour off the field also concerns me.

If Taylor Price develops, then this is a no brainer.

If McCourty returns to form gotta go with him. Good receivers are easier to come by than pro bowl corners. Dez is a beast though.

See how beasty he is if he lasts the season.

what are the chances Dez would NOT have been able to pick up our system?

High.

And he really wanted to be a Cowboy.

Does make you wonder why the Bronco's picked Thomas before him. That ain't working out too well for them. And its a much fairer player comparison.

We saw positive things in the D yesterday and if it is to improve Devin is one of the key players that will help turn it around.

Same as Taylor Price's. Taylor took a whole season to learn it, and now that he's healthy, he still is more statue than player. Dez is explosive but injury prone. I bet he would have spent his rookie season as a returner (if he were healthy), and then started this season as our deep receiver.

Overall, it's a very tough choice, one we might be talking about for years. I personally would have taken the home run hitter. Where would we be if we had taken Clay Matthews & Dez Bryant, instead of who we wound up taking in 2009 and 2010 ? Tough to tell. Darius Butler and Brandon Tate and the 44 overall pick in 2010 we got for Clay Matthews, not an easy pill to swallow. Only the shrewd move up from 44 to 42 got us Gronkowski. Obviously Butler and Tate were busts. So it comes down to Matthews for Gronkowski, I'd still take Matthews (2 time Pro Bowler, 1 time All-Pro), though I'm a huge Gronkowski fan.

way too early

McCourty is in a semi sophmore lump, but to expectlast yr again in year 2 is crazy talk??? I don't think he does well in Man coverage and that is whyhe is struggling a bit.

we got GRONK and Hernandez trading Dallas our 1 got us Gronk essentially right?

I ask you Gronk or Dez??? :)

IMO Dez would have polluted our locker room.

Gronk say's hi... see my post above

phuck analysts our Draft was the best.

3 1st rounders in 4 picks. Gronk Hernandez McCourty they were all immediate impacts

AH in the 4th was Thievery :)

to be fair price was held back by those ohio rules where he had to wait to get into camp.
i also dont think its fair to even compare the 2 physically, i would think dez could go out there and contribute on talent alone

Bryant has ability, but is dumb as a post. This is not an offense that just tells receivers to run deep routes, so he could have well been another Chad Jackson on the Pats. Brady throws to points on the field at times, so it is generally more important that the receiver gets there than it is to get there with freakish speed and size.

I don't regret taking McCourty over Bryant, even with his issues this season. Gronk over Bryant is a no-brainer.

thats a very odd way to look at it, what has dez showed you for you to say hes as dumb as a post? as far as the routes he runs thats entirely on the offense
thats like saying "this isnt an offense that tells you to go into triple coverage and call for the jumpball, calvin johnson would suck here"

If Mccourty returns to last years form..Mccourty. I like good Cb's over WR's.

But right now...honesty i would prob take Bryant. but that's based on this year which Mccourty has been struggling

I don't think Bryant would work well with our locker room, but maybe that'd be different if he was here from the beginning.

At this point McCourty is our guy and our type of player. I hope to see him improve for the 2nd half of the season.
