This article rates BB as one of the top 5 coaches of this year. Given what he has achieved with yet another stupidly high casualty list, a bunch of, erm, serviceable receivers and the loss of a DC, it is testament to him and everyone that we are 11-4. It's a good article, not just for its take on BB, but am I missing something by its one notable omission?

My list would be:

1.) Sean Payton - New Orleans
2.) The Pillsbury Doughboy - NYJets
3.) Andy Reid - Philadelphia
4.) Bill Belichick - Pats
5.) Jeff Fisher - Tennessee

We agree that Sean Payton should be #1.

I'm not sure that I would put Reid that high. I think he has done a fine job of keeping his team up without McNabb, but I think he deserves a lot of blame for them not leading the division by 2-3 games when McNabb was in there.

Screw Mangini. The Jets make the playoffs by one game while playing an ultra cream puff schedule, big deal. Pennington was healthy, they have a superstar in L. Coles, and the Pats choked one of their worst loses in years. The NE win was the Jets' only accomplishment of note and that never would have happened had the team installed the field turf before the game. Brady slips and falls, and suddenly dough boy royale is coach of the year? Ah, no.

here are their wins
Tenn (1st game, when Tenn really sucked)
Buff (when they really sucked also)
Miami - ditto
Detroit - they are 2-13
NE
Hou
GB
Minn
Miami (by the hair of their teeth against a team with nothing left to play for and the Jets needing to win to make the playoffs)

They lost to Cleveland, got murdered 41-0 by Jax (a non-playoff team) and got butchered at home in early December by Buffalo, 31-13. All smoke and mirrors, they stink.

I feel Mangini deserves it, though I think Payton wins it. Mangini has done more with less. N.O. has an MVP candidate in QB Drew Brees, the Jets have Chad Pennington, N.O. has two excellent weapons at RB in McCallister and Bush, the Jets have Washington (a fine rookie) and Barlow. Also the Jets play in a tougher division AND conference. Mangini has done an incredible job, dare I say a better Head Coach than Defensive Coordinator.

Scott99 you forgot Marcus Colston, but I do like Peyton.
