Jets at Pats week 5 post-game thread

Defensively looked much better on 3rd down, yet seemed to lose it in the red zone.
Offensively we brought some heat on the ground which was nice to see, and it's pretty obvious Hernandez isn't at 100% yet.

Would love to see more games where we have more rush attempts than passes.
I was pleased with the defensive effort, but I'd still like to see more QB pressure. In the meaningful plays I think the only real pressures came from Wilfork and Arrington.
KR was a major concern today. We're gonna hafta get Ghost to boom it ALL THE WAY out the end zone now instead of just 8 yards deep
Speaking of Ghost he was perfect today, never should take it for granted even if a couple were gimmes.
Hope Hernandez didn't suffer any setbacks by coming back this week. But he definitely contributed to the win so it's hard to regret having him out there.
The best thing was seeing the balance on offense, this is the type of offense I want to see. No they didn't put up 40 points and 500 yards but they were efficient and [almost] mistake free. And we're not putting too much on Brady's shoulders, that's how we won titles.

BJGE imrpoves every week. His use of blockers is approaching the sublime. He also breaks tackles and is running with more power every week. If he continues to improve at this pace..... Brady still doesn't trust him in the passing game.. he was open a lot without getting the ball.

The O-Line had some serious miscues tonight... they also had some flashes of greatness. I hope they can get more consistent. Waters is probably the most consitent guy we have... what a great pick up.

AH needs to work on his ball security. I hope it doesn't bite us in the playoffs.

Spikes looked lost at time. Guyton's coverage is good, but the rest of his game is inconsitent. When Mayo returns, this D will improve dramatically.

When a guy make such great pancakes, sometimes it's hard to have him cook anything else. Gronk is the best TE in the game.

I miss Woodhead.

Special teams need work. I'd rather see gost kick it out of the end-zone than try to kick it high. I'd also rather see the Pats take a knee whenever the ball is kicked high. There is a lot of room for improvement in the kick-off game.

Revis gets away with way too much....

Welker is awesome. It's gotten to the point where putting him in motion tells you more about the D than putting the TEs in motion.

This team is gonig to be special come December.

Re: Game Thoughts: Jets Edition

Jets have lost 3 in a row, and get the Fins next week followed by SD, at Buff (who look like a clearly better team) and us again. The could very well be 3-6 and done

Screw that, they have Miami coming off a bye week and desperate for a win (along with the fact that I have a feeling the Kyle Orton trade talks will start up again). They could very well be 2-7.

Mmmmm, rings!

Re: Game Thoughts: Jets Edition

6.) Almost all of the sacks on Brady were blown assignments. The o-line and TEs need to watch the game film for the next game because they got burnt on over loaded blitzes.

Not saying you were wrong about the assignments being blown, but two of sacks I thought Brady held onto the ball too long.

You are right, but was in concert with blown assignments. The times Brady held on too long were coverage sacks, but at least once he had an opportunity to dump the ball to avoid the sack.

Re: Game Thoughts: Jets Edition

jets defense is pretty good

jets running back looks good

not a big fan of guyton

Bodden had one of his better games today

Brady seems just generally pisssed about stuff, seems to be in a grumpy mood, or it could be the same idiot reporter asking him stund questions

85 gotta be a better blocker

i luv WW

great challenges

i luv, always have from the start, BJGE. Once he decides to cut up field he does with power. Love to see that balance too

Brady seemed a bit off today (from his usual robot-like accuracy)

A win next week would be a wonderful way to enter into the bye week and get some guys healthy

This is one of the negatives from a good win. Tom was getting hit way too much today.

The other negative was the shoddy special teams coverage. Otherwise, what a great game. Loved the final drive that killed the clock.

I'll be honest, I think that the Jets are trying to psych themselves up. Losing Bryan Thomas is a big blow for their defense. Nick Mangold isn't healthy with the high ankle sprain (a 6-8 week recovery normally).
The Pats should Hernandez, Haynesworth, Wright and Price back. Add to that how well Ridley, Welker, Gronk, BJGE, and Brady have been playing and the Pats should be lights out offensively. Defensively, they should be better with Haynesworth and Wright back. The problem will be Guyton on Defense. He's gone from being mediocre to flat out being bad.. I'd rather see Fletcher and Spikes out there than Guyton.

The Pats need to shut down Keller the way they shut down Gates. They do that and Sanchez can't beat the Pats.

1) The Pats used the run to set up the pass quite a bit today. Not to mention that when the Pats called on BJGE, he answered. I lost track of how many 7+ Yard carries he had. Guy is the real deal regardless of what JetFan1 says.

2) Good to see Hernandex and Haynesworth on the field. Really was hoping to see Wright and Price..

2a) I was very surprised that they had Chung lined up on the right side of the defense all game long. And the Jets, basically, went away from him. Ihedigbo isn't the answer back there, though he is slightly better than Barrett and Brown, but that's not saying much.

3) Guyton and Spikes is a bad combination on the field. these two almost single handedly cost the Pats the game. They are too aggressive and end up taking themselves out of the play.. I'd much rather see Fletcher and Spikes out there because, Fletcher can at least direct the defense.

4) McKnight's 88 yard return should have been called back.. The Jets formed a 4 person wedge and it should have been flagged. They got away with one.

5) The Pats did a great job shutting down Dustin Keller and forcing Sanchez to throw under pressure.. There were a couple of throws the Pats should have picked off.. They seriously need to have Chung spend time on the Jugs machine..

6) I really wish the Pats would use Chad in Goal line situations. His presence along with Hernandez and Gronkowski would give Brady 3 big targets down there.

Agree. At least two of them we're coverage sacks. Brady should have thrown the ball away on those plays because there were no open receivers.

I don't see Thomas Welch being long for the Pats. On three different occasions he got beat and Brady nearly got killed. Two of them when he was lined up to the left of Light and one when he was lined up at RT with Solder in at TE.

On all three occasions, Welch got beaten reminiscent of Grant "Turnstile" Williams..

Yea, they really need Vollmer back.

Only the 1st sack was a coverage sack. The rest were blown assignments. Mainly by Tom Welch and then whomever was next to him who tried to cover up Welch's mistake..

the defense came to play today and if they keep running the ball like this they will be unbeatable great win

JetFan1 is the notoriously obnoxious and stupid Ray Ray from JI. Back in the day he used to have some epic arguments with PatsfanTX.

He is the dumbest homer on the planet so I wouldn't pay to much attention to what he says about anything. I would take Benny over Shonne Greene any day.

just got back from the Razor....once again...sans voce....gotta watch the DVR......my question is did any of you watching on the tube today see how many PI penalties Revis committed? Had to be at least twenty....he grabs and pulls the WR beyond five yards on almost every single play...guess they don't call it because he can stay with any receiver...has to be something...Billy D called me on my cell in the 1st quarter and I moved from 310 down to 108 , six rows back...yeah, I'm a sleaze, sosueme...Gronk was yakking up on the sideline and constantly drinking fluids...anyone know why?

Gotta just say, that was a hard fought game...BJGE stepped right on their neck and wouldn't let them up. Uncalled clip on that Jet runback right in front of us...no flag....Hernandez had this ugly looking brace on his knee...you see a lot of little things when you're close on the sideline.....those D linemen sweat like racehorses after four furlongs...oh, one more small observation....Santonio Holmes is THE poster boy for the LOOK AT ME!!!!! generation...that clown is a joke.
