I was watching Titans@Steelers game and after the fake punt, I wondered why we haven't seen any trick plays with Edelman throwing the football. it would seem like a good opportunity for a trick play.

Granted Edelman has to be on the field for this to happen and you can only go to the weel on this so often, but you'd have thought we'd have seen one by now.

Is it waiting for an appropriate moment in the post season?

Edit: Guess that's what happened to that missed text: The title got messed up. Any way to change it to "A thought on Edelman"

If the Pats are going to throw the ball, I'd rather have Brady throwing it straight up than Edelman throwing it on a trick play.

10-4. Done.

This.

As Kraft said a while back (during the question if NE was going after M. Vick). [not a direct quote, as I remember it]

"In what situation do you take the ball out of the hands of the best player in the NFL?

1st and 10? 3rd and long? 4th and short? In the redzone? Tell me when do we NOT want Tom Brady to be the one who is throwing the football"

And perhaps that's why we haven't seen it and then you've also removed another offensive player from thef ield so you're effectively 9 against 11...but that's why it's also called a trick play. In the same light why would you have Edelman running the ball when RBs tend to be better. The goal it to catch a defense off guard.

As for situation I wouldn't do it on 3rd or 4th. I'd say around mid field when we are up a score. You'd have to see a defense with a tendancy to abandon their receivers to assist on run support.

They HAVE to have something in their back pocket. They may never use it. I thought they would've done something in '08 when Edelman was on the field regularly.

I'd love to see them use him as a decoy, have Brady swing a backward lateral over to him, act like he's going to pass it, then swing it back to Brady for a bomb.

Bens a good qb tho and steelers do it all the time almost always successfully. If you can catch the d off guard with it it could be deadly.

When no one in the stadium especially the other team is expecting it.

Eh, Pats avg 30 a game for what seems like 5 years, I think they are doing just fine without the trickery.

Steelers have to use it, because they have fatboy, and not Brady:D
