Rex Ryan says that he kept McKnight Because His Ceiling is Higher Than Woodhead's

With Ridley blossoming and Vereen waiting in the wings, I wouldn't be shocked to see Danny wash out. Would BB keep him around solely for special teams?

As for Rexy's comment(s), we'll see the Jets on Sunday.

This is as good a time as any to say:

Child, please.

What would you have said if you were the head coach of the Jets?

"Yeah, really wish we'd kept Woodhead. Turns out that kid can play. Too bad we kept this bum McKnight. Man he's terrible."

It's not like if Rex actually regrets the decision he could say that to the media. Imagine what that would do for McKnight.

I would have said nothing, but thats too difficult for that NY blowhard.

This is just typical Fatso speak. He said Sanchez would be special someday so, Rex (not the players) goes and elects him as a Captain to justify his comments. "See how special Mark Sanchez is? Hes a Captain!"

It all just damage control because Woodhead has outplayed McNight and Rex has to put that fire out somehow.

No, Vereen has shown ziltch and Faulk is likely gone after this season.

BJGE, Woody, Ridley and maybe Vereen (who knows?) Thats a nice RB by committee.

So far the only thing McKnight has really done that stood out was his kick return for TD last week. But the Jets seem to always have kick returners who can take it to the house. They had Brad Smith. Before that it was Leon Washington. Before that it was LaMont Jordan. I don't think McKnight is special. On offense, he has 203 rushing yards and most of them game in a meaningless game.

What Rex really meant to say: "Damn, I blew it with Woodhead. I don't even have a credible rationalization to explain my mistake."

Could just be a vote of confidence for him. You wanna encourage your guys and someone probably asked him a question about woodhead with the pats game coming up and all.

I don't see Woody washing out but how do Vereen and Woody fit on the team in the future? Don't they both play the same sort of role?

Because no coach has ever said kind things about a player that might not necessarily have been true.

Ever

:bricks:

Woodhead has been more productive, but that doesn't mean McKnight's ceiling isn't higher. Although, I don't think we're going to see his ceiling this year. 6 carries?

His ceiling is so high he can't get on the field, blocked by a very average Shonn Greene and an old bag of bones has been in LT.

Rex seems to have some trouble distinguishing between athletic ability and what it takes to be a football player.

McKnight 5'11".
Woodhead 5'7".

Of course McKnight needs a bigger ceiling, he's 4 inches taller.

But that's no way to build a team ;)

What? Just leave McKnight out of it and give Woodhead his props. You're excusing Fatso.

Danny wash out? What time did you start drinking today? Have you watched this guy play for the last 13 months?

Tbh you can't really cut a 4th round pick that early. Maybe he should of IR stashed him or something. He looked good in that return last week but so didn't Justin miller and Leon washington back in the day.

Don't forget how brilliant Footfetish and Tanny were, when they moved up 10 spots to "bag" McKnight and keep him away from the Pats(lol).Who got "stuck" drafting Aaron Hernandez........PRICELESS!

Virtually everything out of his mouth isnt true.

He also claims that Mason would have 100 receptions in the slot like Welker.
