Rex Ryan is a Hall-of Famer -just like Coach

I read it was because he was inducted into his alma mater's HOF. In which case, big deal.

He was inducted into the Southwestern Oklahoma hall of fame and wore the blazer/made the comments as a joke.

I know he's a hated rival but come on, have a sense of humor.

I also hope the Pats win 49-0, but I thought this was pretty funny, the likable side of Rex.

Boston.com had a little bit more of Rex's now-familiar 'aw shucks, it's li'l ol' me vs Belichick the Great' routine:

“He’s the best coach in football. If it comes down to us, he’s going to win it. I don’t have a problem saying that. I’m not in that class. But I’m going to compete, I’m going to give him everything I have

Ryan has gotten a lot of mileage rallying his players behind their humble coach against the Evil Genius, and this is part of that.

I hate the Jets. No, actually, I HATE the Jets. I want us to beat them 73-0 every time we play them. I hope they go 1-15 every year (splitting their series against the Dolphins, who also go 1-15 every year).

But I just can't hate Ryan. He's a blowhard big-mouth lunatic and all that, but he's a good coach and he has a great sense of humor and he seems to keep it all very real.

i like rex, he's a funny guy

he takes all the spotlight, or at least he tries to, off his players

i think that's smart

it's a different approach, but it's not bad IMO

he's quite a character

With the greatest of respect to Rex, if he stands in the spotlight no light is going to hit the players. It's science.

I don't hate the JETS. Hate is a very strong emotion, and I reserve that for very few times. However, I do despise them and pretty much everything associated with them.

I also don't know Ryan well enough to despise him, but I respect his abilities as a coach. His record is fact and you have to respect what he's been able to do through his career. Doesn't mean I don't want him to lose, just that I respect what he can do as a coach.

I wouldn't have any heartburn if the JETS never won another game. I'd be content if New England beat them like a rented mule every time they played. I don't want any player to get hurt, but if the JETS get a few knocked out of a game I also won't lose any sleep over that. It's football.

Having said all of that, yeah... what Ryan did was kinda funny. He's a different animal than many coaches. You have to respect that too.

I hope we feed a 50 burger on them when they come here, and another when we visit their half of a stadium in Jersey.

Funny guy, good coach. Let's hope he doesn't have anything funny to say after this weekends beatdown :D .

Actually, I've grown to enjoy this guy alot - - he's VERY funny!

Wouldn't want him coaching my team, but look forward to watching him as a studio analyst when he gets fired at some point.

He IS an electric and funny personality.

..........and anyone who is angry about the harmless bit he did yesterday needs to chill out.

This guy has the biggest inferiority complex of anyone in football.

You wouldn't mind him coaching the Pats? When BB retires I'd prefer someone else.

That was pretty funny.

I like Rex a lot and thought that was really funny when i heard it . . .

I guess I don't have a sense of humor. I don't find anything Coach Ryan says to be funny. Bah, I just hate the damn Jets. Period... Nothing they say amuses me even a little bit.

For me, the act has gotten tired. He's a very good coach. Just coach.

How's your reading comprehension?

Pray tell, how did you read that plain English sentence and manufacture that I wouldn't mind him coaching the Pats?
