QB exchange
Speaking on a conference call with New England reporters, Titans QB Vince Young recalled meeting Patriots QB Tom Brady at the ESPY awards.

“I have a lot of respect for him,†Young said. “We talked a lot during the ESPY awards. A lot of people haven’t given him the type of pub that he [deserves]. I really feel like he’s doing a great job overall of taking the team to the Super Bowl, doing all the different things. But you don’t hear too much about him. He’s one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL who don’t get the pub that he’s supposed to.â€

Young said the meeting with Brady at the ESPYs caught him by surprise.

“I didn’t even know he was there until he approached me, and when I saw him, I was a little shocked and excited to stand there and talk to The Man, to me. A guy who will do whatever it takes to win ballgames and also continue to get better and better each year. We just basically talked about different things, how to carry yourself and just play the game you’ve been playing all your life.â€

Later, Young added that Brady has gotten to the point of winning Super Bowls, calling his own plays, and “if it was up to me, and I had a chance to get in the media, I’d talk about him a whole lot -- that he should be the face of the NFL. Not taking anything away from Peyton Manning, but he has done the job, even tough people said he couldn’t.â€

Maybe Vince could be Brady's new girlfriend?

Seriously, that's a very nice tribute. Hope Vince does well...after Sunday.

It sounds like a BB/TB ball-washing of the opposing team before a game :)

If not, it sounds like the kid's got a good, receptive head on his shoulders. And one helluva mentor!

Vince has that something that Vick and Manning lack. He is a winner. There is just something about guys like him, they are winners. Vince Young is going to be one of those players with poor stats who just wins - and it will drive people crazy.

For a guy who scored a 7 at the Combine test, he sounds like one smart dude. And, he has been playing like a #1 pick.

Ya know i've heard he scored 12, 9, now 7, I mean seriously does anybody know this for fact???
No matter, like BB said, he knows how to win, really all you need to know as a football player.
Wonderlic is OVERRATED!

I love Vince Young as a player! I thought he was going to lead Texas heading into the NC game in '06...

I took a Franklin off my buddy Richard, who was sure Leinart and USC would wipe out the Horns.

(Thanks, Vince!)

Now, he already emerging as a threat in the NFL...

I'm not a big fan of quarterbacks who play the high school/SWC style, but Vince is the exception.

I love this kid and that's saying a lot considering I went to OU and he played at Texas. A truly impressive athlete who has far exceeded my expectations for a rookie season. His play in the national title game last year was breathtaking.

Brady has a pub? That explains the Irish "cat burgular" cap he weears from time to time.

Do they serve Giunness?

Brilliant!

Where is it? Provincetown?
My spec, Armen, is that pub is short for publicity, not public house. ;)

Just making sure we get A-OK on the abbr. ASAP B4 teh MSG gets FUBAR. NBD.

If I never hear or read the name Vince Young again that would be fine with me. After Sunday of course.

Nice to see a Young QB come into the league with a good head on his shoulders. Hope he has a long career.

It's hard to dislike the guy.

BIG UT fan here (I'll be attending there starting Fall '07), I LOVE Vince Young and personally believe he was one of the top 5 best players to ever come out of the program. I hope he does well in the NFL (including this sunday :) but I hope we'll come out with the W).

I've like Vince Young since the NC game for the simple reason that I hate USC so much and it was nice to see him put a team on his back and beat USC. I was one of the people who thought he wouldn't do very well in the NFL. I thought he would be a lesser version of Michael Vick, which doesn't say much.

I don't care what VY passer rating is. He has "it." Whatever "it" is, only a few QBs have had "it." Tom Brady has "it", Joe Montana had "it" and I think Drew Brees has "it" to a lesser extent. Peyton definetily doesn't have "it". I used to think Big Ben might have had "it", but now not so much. Carson Palmer and Donovan McNabb might have it, but I'm not sure. And now I'm starting to think Jeff Garcia might have "it". Oh, and Tony Romo definitely doesn't have "it" for all you Cowboy fans who are in an absolute lovefest with him.

The thing I like about VY is that the only thing he cares about is winning. Thats why he thinks TB is THE MAN cuz he wins. I wish more players had this attitude. I'm not trying to be a Colts basher or anything, but I get the impression that Peyton Manning fakes like he only cares about winning, but deep down he really cares about stats as well.

I think VY has the potential to be a mix between McNabb's ability and Tom Brady's "it" factor. Don't get me wrong, he's not there yet, but I think he has the POTENTIAL. If he gets there, he will be real fun to watch, unless he's playing the Pats. Heck, he's already fun to watch.

Vince Young has always gave Brady his props.I remember Vince saying in a interview that the top 3 QB's in the game are 1.Brady 2.Manning and 3.McNabb.Vince will be way better than Vick in the end.

I love VY's game. He will be the QB that Mike Vick has supposed to been for the last few years. Honestly, I don't care about some written test or some IQ test, because Young just flat out wins ball games. Now, maybe this won't last long for him, maybe defenses might figure him out, hopefully it's not due to injury, because I am getting to the point where to watch VY play is one of the best reasons to pay for Sunday Ticket, as that OT run 2 weeks ago in Overtime might be the play of the year this year.

nice post......VY is a winner.....although I think he would be better if McNair was there......you are right on about PAY-ME-A-TON....the way he is throwing his team under the bus like that.....the main reason he won't have "IT"......once again good post.....GO PATS!!!!!!:D

I'm glad VY is having a good year,Its good to see the combine process miss the boat once again on a talented player, although to quote Bill Parcells"Lets not put him in the Hall of Fame yet".Also, lets hope he doesnt play too well this weekend....
