We probably would have the best defense in the NFL if not for these two boneheaded decisions. How come nobody ever mentions this?

Because it's bullshat?

Because if the Patriots had Richard Seymour and Clay Matthews they wouldn't have Rob Gronkowski & Vince Wilfork + a host of other players.

Nobody ever mentions it? What message board are YOU posting at?

Well.... this is original. Why didn't anyone ever think of this before?

This really is a pointless thread. Are you so unhappy in general that this is what you need to do? Really? This is the best you've got?
What a waste!!!

LOL...what a waste of internet space this is

it's medication time :D

Still doesn't address our problems at safety and it completely neglects to account for the fact that we couldn't afford to resign both Seymour and Wilfork. I'd rather have Wilfork, by a long shot. We would have had to trade up to get Matthews, spend more money, and not have signed some of the other guys we had. Could it have worked out? Sure. However, I do like our recent draft acquisitions.

Are people still on about this?

i give the pats a pass on Matthews cause if anyone knew how good he was going to be he would have been a top 10 pick, as far as Seymour goes they should have looked him up Long term a year befor they Traded him after that the price for a DE went up way to high for them to keep both Wilfork and him with Brady makeing 20 Million,

but there are two moves the pats could have made that would have made the Defense better this year #1 sign Jason Babin who leads the NFL in sacks and is only makeing 1.5 million more then Shaun Ellis who has done notting so far #2 not cutting brandon meriweather, i think does two moves would have made this defense a lot better IMO

To quote the late great Jimmy Williams, "If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his booty when he hopped."

Also don't be suprised if Matthews fails a drug test in the future. The due has 'roids/HGH written all over him. Huge questions on that in the draft, I'm sure it played a part in BB's decisions.

Do you know if Babin even wanted to come here. Maybe the Pats inquired on the guy and he didn't want to come to the Patriots. He played for the Eagles in 2009 and might have wanted to go back since he may have never wanted to leave. Odds are he wanted to return to Philly.

As for cutting Meriweather, I don't blame him for that. I blame him for not having another safety to replace him. He may have been betting that Sharper was game ready.

im not trying to be a wise A** lol but do you know if the pats ever Tried to Sign him no you dont cause you dont work for the pats just like i dont, it's just my Opinion what i think could have helped the defense a real 4-3 DE and a vet FS

No one knows. But people complain that the Patriots don't sign this or that free agent yet never think that those free agents might not want to come here. Some players want to play for certain teams and won't consider any other team. Some players don't want to go to certain teams because they don't like the scheme or the city or whatever.

I don't know why Babin didn't get signed here, but it might be because Babin didn't want to sign here. He signed with the Eagles pretty quickly after the lockout. He claims he chose the Eagles over other teams because criterias that he and his wife set out that didn't include money.

Also, Babin signed a 5 year, $28 million deal with $6 million guaranteed. So it isn't the same as Ellis who got an one year deal.

I think it is fair to criticize the Patriots for not making an effort to sign a player who is on the market for a long period of time, but Babin looked to make a B-line to the Eagles. Especially with this crazy preseason, there is no way to know if the Pats made an effort or not and whether Babin just didn't want to come to the Patriots.
