Just in time for the Pats game, Ryan said he will go back to the Ground and Pound approach with a porous o-line and no legitimate lead RB.

On second thought: Jets will go back to “ground and pound” approach | ProFootballTalk

I am sure opposing teams are shaking in their boots of the prospect of Shonn Greene and 39.25 YPG and 3.1 YPC average. Jets fans better hope he is playing a Rope-A-Dope with Belichick because I think the only chance the Jets have to win this game is on the arm of Sanchez and hope the Good Sanchez shows up and not the crappy one. If the Pats can shutdown Darren McFadden (except for one 41 yard run), they certainly shutdown Shonn Greene.

18 touches for 123 yards is shutting him down ? seriously.

LOL! 14 carries 75 yards. Forty-one yards on one carry, 2.6 YPC on the other 13. For a guy who went into the game averaging 131 rushing yards a game, that is shutting him down.

You trolls are getting dumber and dumber every week. What part of Ground do you not understand?

What a brilliant plan against Big Vince and Haynesworth with a horrid O-line and facing the 32nd ranked pass defense.

Go for it, Rex!

Not buying this. Haloti Ngata, Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs aren't walking through that door. Sanchez throws for 350+ this week.

Ok, figured it out. You don't know how to read. The Pats shutdown McFadden on the ground. McFadden had one great rushing play and then a total non-factor as a runner the rest of the game.

It is Ground and Pound not Pass and Catch. Considering Shonn Greene is not a good receiver (the guy hads 180 carreer receiving yards), what does McFadden's receiving numbers have to do with anything? Especially when I am talking about the Pats run defense.

McFadden rushed for 75 yards on 14 carries, with the one breakaway. The defense did a fine job with him in the run game and held Bush to 3 yards per carry. Why else was Campbell throwing into the end zone in the second half only to be picked off? The D-Line and LBs did just fine in the run game, even with Mayo out.

Shonn Green and LT do not look too threatening with that offensive line in disarray. Coming into Foxboro, the Jets are 30th in the NFL in rushing yards/game at 71.0. That's not real good, is it?

Don't tell Coach Belichick, but I think this is a sneaky trick by Rex Ryan. Belichick will take it hook, line and sinker. BB is cooking up exotic rushing defense schemes and multiple stunts to stop Shonn Green. And then, just when it looks good, ol' Snatch-ez will start throwing those danged passes through the air.

Ground me and pound me, Rex!

what he said

He probably said it with that laughter from hard knocks. When I think of Rex, I think of a buffoon who is always laughing or feigning anger to impress someone.

Thanks for the intel, Rex!

If the Jets are stupid enough to try to attack our pretty-formidable run defense rather than our 32nd-ranked secondary, then I am 100% okay with that.

Sanchez cannot pass like Brady or Rogers and they cannot expect their offense to be built on the pass (like, say, ours is). So they do need to establish a physical running game. But Shon Greene is not gonna scare many people either. More importantly, the Pats can actually tackle a runner. They cannot defend a pass or get off the field on third down. And they cannot rush the passer. So until this changes, I expect the Jets to run early and pass sparingly on third down if needed, taking some shots early with Plax and Holmes on our CBs. On defense, Revis will be asked to take 83 out of the game. That is the match-up to watch. Last Sun, Branch and Gronk had 1 catch each and Ocho had two. Rex will try to make them win the game.

This run game strategy REALLY depresses me.
I was at the 45-3 Jets rout and the Sangrenade implosion the year before where Bodden picked the dweeb 3 times. I was SO looking fwd to another Sangrenade Sunday. Doesn't Rex know that I'm taking my lovely daughter to her 1st game evah at Gillette Sinday?

You can't really blame them. If we keep passing at this rate our QB is gonna be carted off the field in a wheelchair. Check that, he might actually die on the field.

They need to establish some sort of run game. They've done nothing so far. Top 5 the last two years to 3rd from the bottom this year. Its atrocious.

What he really means is that the jets are going back to getting pounded into the ground.

They should let Sanchez cut loose and toss a 50 yarder to Santonio Holmes! LOL I would love that.

Some of your cofans were here arguing before the season how ignorant it was to say your OL has declined and you lack depth.
They havent been around in a while/
