We need a "Pay the beast" smiley.......until then, PAY THE BEAST!!!

He is playing out of his mind right now.

Miami fans still think they won that trade.

The folker is dead to me.
Postgame he starts talking about diet. Right when my wife is watching. She's convinced I'm overweight at 5'9" and 188 LBS. Now my life will be living hell as she *****es and moans and makes me eat more salads. I consider that I have an excellent diet for not being a professional athlete but after Welker said "You don't put regular unleaded in a jet engine" I'm doomed.

If I remember correctly they signed him as a RFA with a poison pill, and the Dolphins didn't have a choice, so they traded him and picked up an extra 7th rounder.

Maybe you could try arguing that you don't put jet fuel in a regular engine? :)

My husband weighs about the same. The doctor said lose about 15 pounds.

The rumor was that the Patriots would do that, but Kraft never signed off on it; (A) he didn't want to antagonize the LOLphins, and (B) it meant that the Pats wouldn't have to put fake years in Welker's contract.

Add HIM (the doctor, NOT your husband) to my Dead To Me list.
My Dr said my weight's fine.

All Pro sighting...

Seriously though, where do you rank Wes among the NFL WR's?

I think, they will pay him with the Franchise Tag.

No way they designate the franchise tag on Welker--at least in my opinion.

To be honest, I still don't understand why they don't just re-sign him now. I realize that no one wants to take away focus from the weekly gameplanning, but there is a bye week coming up. By waiting, it is going to cost them more.

Top 5. The kids on pace for 160 catches and 2400 yds with 20 TDs. The records 143 by Marvin Harrison. I think it may be in serious danger. Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson (whos out), Larry Fitzgerald and Roddy White are all in the mix IMHO.

Agreed, although I may substitute Roddy White for a couple/few other WR's.

The annoying thing about talking about the franchise tag is that there are two different scenarios.

(1) Using the franchise tag to "buy time" to negotiate (as they did with Wilfork).

(2) Using the franchise tag as a prelude to a trade or to keep a player for an extra year (as they did with Cassel/Asante).

I cannot see (2) happening, but I can believe they would resort to (1) if absolutely necessary.

Really hard question because Welker has a different kind of talent compared to this group. Outside of NE, he won't get the love that these guys get: they're all bigger, faster, home-run threat wideouts with pretty freakish physical measurables. He's not. Even the stats he's been putting up as a Patriot still haven't made believers out of a lot of fans.

But pretty safe to say he's more valuable to his team than all of them. (eh, Megatron might come close :)).
