Like most on this board I am concerned about our leaky defense. I still feel there is too much talent and Bill will get this unit turned around. I think the return of Deaderick and Brace at week 6 is more important now than earlier this year as Myron Pryor and Wright are out. (I know Wrights not officailly on injured reserve, we all know what its looking like with him, unfortunately)
I feel Brace was playing well and was starting to show something when he injured his elbow against the Bills last year. Deaderick had an overall good rookie year.

I think thier returns are important. Especially as Haysworth seems really uncertain.

Thoughts? Is Markel Carter or anyon else on the roster or practice squad capable of making a contribution?

I think that Markell Carter is just there to learn this year. His real contributions, if there are any, will start to come next year. The only way I see him on the active roster this year is if this spate of injuries continues.

If we expect the returns of Deaderick & Brace to improve the defense, then we're screwed.

And for feck's sake, Bill, IR Mike Wright already. WTF are you waiting for?

Mike Wright should seriously have a talk with his family and consider hanging it up.

It would be nice to See Ron Brace get an extended run in this team just to see what he can do.

I seriously have no idea how Wright could ever be cool with stepping on a field again. The guy took what, 8 months off from game action and lasted a drive or 2. He needs to be IR'd and hang it up, not worth the long term risks.

As far as Brace and Deadrick, it's good to know they're [hopefully] ready to step in if called upon. After last year's disaster of injuries on the DL I think it's not yet time to panic. Actually liked what I saw from those 2 when they actually got ont he field.

in the immortal words of John McEnroe..

"You can't be Serious?"

Brace has done absolutely NOTHING, Deaderick has been an excellent player compared to what was expected from him, but neither one, can rush the passer, and neither one is any sort of upgrade over who the Pats are playing now...............

I'm rarely one of the "negative" posters/fans on this board, but this is hilarious. Counting on Deaderick/Brace to improve the defense=ha!

Love is better than both of them.

I don't think anybody's saying these guys are worldbeaters, but good depth. Better than bringing people in off the streets like we had to last year.

This is like me saying .. "I can't wait for Guyton to come back in the game." ... lol.. I kid I kid

No one said we were counting on them like they will be playmakers/difference makers. We need depth at DL position. Great, Kyle Loves a better player than both Deaderick and Brace. Now what if he gets hurt?

Depth has not been the problem. Performance is the problem, most notably by the starters who cough up big play after big play. They can neither cover nor pressure. If the performance does not improve, it will only get worse by bringing in subs.

It is week#4, and we are waiting for Ron Brace to return in week#7.

I might as well get a early start on the Mock drafts for 2012.

Ron Brace is only a threat to Joey Chesnut, in the Nathans hotdog eating
contest.

Would either of them of made the team? I wouldnt say it's a guarantee they don't get ir'd or cut. Brace is lookin like a bust from where he was picked but he's a decent player if he's healthy.

I think it's obvious that, with regards to the DL this year, Belichick is throwing a bunch of guys against the wall and seeing what sticks... Haynesworth, Carter, Anderson, Love, Cohen etc.

I actually agree that those 2 guys will improve the defense. I thought Deaderick was consistently getting a great push at the LOS last year, and by the end of the year, Brace really picked up his play.

Depth is important....but ...I think a big part is .the offense doesnt have sustained/long drivers ..until today. The longer the drive ..the more well rested we are on defense. So ..I like this ..balanced attack ..what will they come up with next :)

Talented?
McCourty, yes
Mayo, yes
Wilfork, YES

Haynesworth, if he can stay on the field
Chung, needs to make more plays, but yes

There's really not much talent after that. This just isn't a championship caliber defense. Put the koolaid down.

Let's be serious. We could use some help at DT. We certainly could use some depth. We need 4-5 healthy players at that position. No one is suggesting that Brace or Deaderick would move to the top of the depth chart and start. And, I agree that neither of the players would have made the roster. So what? As of now, we are down Pryor and probably Wright. We have two others injured. 1-2 of Brace, Deaderick and Cohen could help.

DT (4-5)
We have Wilfork, the injured Haynsworth, the injured Wright and the injured Love. Pryor is already gone to the IR.
====================================
DE and OLB (5)
Sure, we need more production from our DE's and OLB's: Carter, Ellis, Ninkovich, Anderson, and Cunningham. Here the bodies are in place and reasonably healthy. We'll see how much better they are as the year goes on. I don't see Brace or Deaderick helping at these positions.

I'd love to believe that those guys will save the day, at least on some level, but I'm skeptical. I certainly hope you're right, though. Just don't see it happening.

Brace showed flashes and has yet to put it together AT ALL consistently. Deaderick is a head-case-ish type guy, who we hope will develop, but who's shown no reason for us to show faith.

We're 3-1, with the best record in the AFC, so I guess I can say that our front seven is at least OK and will get better. The issue raised here is that we need someone to replace Pryor and probably Wright on the roster.
