Why is it if a defender on the opposing team steps up and makes a solid defensive play, the play becomes a bad call from the OC???

Example: The quick throw to Chad Jackson. The safety stepped up and layed the smackdown on CJ. Wow what a great defensive play? Nope, McD stinks and that play should never have been called.

Question: What would have happened if the safety mis-played the throw (human players actually make mistakes and miss tackles) and CJ gets around the saftey? Who is going to stop CJ from the endzone?

Answer: In theory, CJ has an open footrace for the endzone. More likley, CJ uses his speed for a good gain. It is certainly not a bad call by the OC. It is a great play on the ball by a defender.

The call was fine, we've had many good plays like that with our WR making the first guy miss. A bad throw ruined the possibility of that.

It is silly. Not every play an OC calls is going to work...and he shouldn't be roasted on a spit when it doesn't.

IMO, it was the combination of the ball getting there a little late and the DB stepping up to make the play. They've run the same play to others like Troy in the slot and they've made the 1st guy miss and gotten yards out of it. It just goes to show that execution of a play is more important than the pay call itself.

It was Brady's fault. We should bench him.

You're going to find another excuse to fling monkey poo now, I suppose.

wow no response from the idiot crowd

just win, baby

it was bad call because it was thrown to chad jackson ! if it was caldwell then the CJ fans would say, 'throw to chad jackson' :)

Because a quick slant wound have been better there?

Is that play a play that never works, or are they setting it up? What will happen when Brady pumps at Chad, the DB bites on the fake, and Chad is running free in the secondary? Chad has issues, but that play hasn't worked all year and eventually they will suck the corner in and hit on a long one with it.

no kidding

I made the same point on the latest Chad Jakson is a dud thread.

The other team has professional football players too. The Jax player made an excellent play. If he hadn't, ther were a lot of yards to pick up.

Nothing wrong with the play call or Jackson. Just a good play by a good defensive football player.

What is so difficult about comprehending this thought? Why the McD bashing? Why the dumb explanations? Why more screens and crosses? The guy made a great play.

Why post a thread that is basically just stirring up all the garbage between two sides of knuckle heads that have highjacked this board. You are as much a part of the problem as the people you dislike so much. Its a shame really. This site actually used to be about football. Now you have to wade through all thge he said/she said crap just to get a sniff of pigskin.
High school is over for most of us.

Obviously its not over for for you. I think you mistook me for someone who cares if you like me? In fact, are you in Jr High?

The thread is not a waste. It proves a valid point. What is the point? Josh McD is a solid 1st year OC. He coached his O to the AFCE title and put 24 points up on a team that gives up 9 at home.

It is not two sides who are knuckleheads. It is a bout one side who doesnt live in reality and will always bash the OC and threaten anyone who is proud of what this team has accompliched.

My friend, that is Patriot football.

And now you understand the error that NEM constantly makes.

Plays are judged good or bad only if they succeed, and that is measured after the play is done. Execution counts for naught. Good play by the defenders or bad play by a Pat matters not a smidgeion. Its all success, or the OC is an idiot...

That Safety was way way off of CJ. He wasn't within fifteen yards at the snap. I actually think the safety realized that CJ was uncovered at perhaps just a moment before the snap, and raced over to try to re-cover from the Team error.

The safety made a good play, but if the timing were slightly different, its relatively easy to sidestep a guy coming at you fill tilt. The open CJ could have gone a long way.

I like this post. When all the Mcdaniels bashing was going on, thats exactly what i was thinking. Yes, i have disagreed with some of the play calling, but not to a point where i needed to bash him. Things happen, people make plays, theres nothing you can do about it. The times when the Pats lost, it just looked to me, no matter what plays where called they werent going to do anything. Im happy with this season, 11 wins is a respectable record.

no doubt about if frankie. no one is going to call a perfect game either. 11/15 isn't so bad. AFCE champion isn't so bad. But where are all the McD haters. Not a single one has touched this thread. They avoid facts such as, the guy made a great play.
