Just saw this on Twitter per Mike Reiss:

A.J. Edds told teammates that he had been signed to the Colts Regular Roster.

Well, at least he gets three weeks' salary . . . but I still don't get why they cut him to promote Tarpinian back to the 53.

Why phrase it that way? If he's on the PS, then he chose to sign with the Colts; it's not like any team can just swipe a player off another team's PS without the player's consent. . . .

While you and I know that, there are a lot of people that are unaware of those rules - so it does kind of make sense to proactively explain it prior to the inevitable question.

With Brackett going to IR, the Colts definitely need help.

As much as I was hoping he would stick around, good for him.

Let's see - $3,000 a week or like $25,000 a week - I know what decision I would make.

It's actually close to $6K a week on the PS, but your point still stands. [Teams that sign a player off another team's PS are required to pay a minimum of three weeks' salary to such players.]

Not quite my point: why say that "he had been signed", which (A) takes up more space, and (B) makes it sound like he had no say in the matter?

Who needs AJ Edds (the only LB capable, it seemed, to cover Tolbert at all 2 weeks ago)
when we have Tarpinian, Phil Adams & Ross Ventrone (who's even smaller than Ray)?

Thought Edds was going to have a dual role, back-up LB and long snapper.

Wrong again..
