Defenseless: Bill Belichick Has Only Himself To Blame For This Mess On Defense | Patriots Daily

I don’t know when Bill Belichick lost his fastball on defense.

Maybe it was in 2008 at about the same time Josh Beckett lost his. After another pathetic performance by the Patriots defense this past Sunday against the Bills, I am left wondering when and if he is going to get it back.

I mean this is Bill Belichick, who was canonized this month by NFL Films in “A Football Life.” He is the defensive guru with five Super Bowl rings, two coming as a DEFENSIVE coordinator. He has been a successful defensive coach wherever he has been. But he has FAILED to field a championship defense since he shipped Richard Seymour out of town three seasons ago.

I blame Pete Carroll. It's all the rage these days to fault your predecessor.

I blame Bill O'Brien. I hear it is the trendy thing to do.

Gary Guyton ... Public Enemy #1 in my book ..

Well that's certainly a nice "glass is completely empty" piece.

Blame Ty Law for trying to feed his family :snob:

We have the best defense in the NFL, our problem is that the refs are against us.

Did you say NFL or mean CFL?

I bet this defense could keep the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from scoring 35

One of the most truthful articles I have read in a while. This guy makes plenty of valid points.

Not signing Adam Seward cost this team 5 superbowl championships

Finally some are seeing the light and are taking off their glasses!!If this continues then i wouldnt mind a new defensive coordinator next year.

It's Belichick's defense. There is no D.C..

Even if that means getting rid of BB ?

But I have to agree with some of the article. It's kinda of like calling BB out.

two moves that would have made this defense a lot better, #1 they should have signed Jason Babin if they knew they were moveing to a 4-3 he's only makeing 1.5 million more then Shaun Ellis and is 4th in the NFL with 4 sacks, #2 not cuting Brandon Meriweather, dose two moves would have made this defense alot better

BB has gotten too much power.I get it that he has won 3 superbowl rings but lately he hasnt been the genius that many think. His defense has gotten worse.I seen enough already.:bricks:

So did Mein Kampf.

The defense has never been the same since Eric Mangini took away our video equipment, the little rat snitch ingrate!

Well most people are starting to question why he can't put even a middle of the road defense out there. This article points out its a talent gap. The question is why can't Bill see it.

Ryan Kerrigan, this guy is everything Belichick looks for in a player. They could have found another tackle. Solder isn't going to win them a game. Kerrigan might have. And that pick was available, they could have got up to #11 and got Watt as well.
