Any chance we could get a kick/punt returner with some blazing speed?

I know this is the least of our problems, but I just don't feel threatened by Edelman/Welker back there. Edelman is shifty and all, and puts up decent numbers as a returner, but in my opinion he is not a home run hitter. I much prefer speed returning kicks.

There's tons and tons of room on the Raiders bandwagon.

Are you questioning my loyalty to the team, or is that a funny joke I'm not getting?

That's your biggest concern after Sunday?

No it isn't, and I even posted "I know this is the least of our problems," but apparently you decided it was in your best interest to not read that part. A little agitated? You forget your morning coffee?

Edelman's taken three punts the distance already (one in preseason, and one that got wiped out on a ticky-tack penalty).

In other words, no.

You pissed bro?

Right now Edelperson is 9th in the league in yds/return for punts. Not terrible, and certainly not anything to be worried about at this point.

Ok, fair enough. Maybe it's just he doesn't pass the eye test for me. I enjoy watching guys like Ted Ginn blow smoke past the special team defenders.

Na not really, but I am still in pain from the loss to the bills..I'm in recovery mode. By sunday, I will be all better ;)

Personally, I'd like to see Edelman handle punts and have somebody else on kickoffs. That's not really based on much of anything, though.

I got a feeling he is gonna break one in the next couple games. I like his fire...

Whats with all the Edelmen hate lately? First a post about getting rid of him and now this. I think he does damn well at returning punts. If anything, I'd gladly start him over Ocho.

Belichick collects football players, not athletes. If you want speed, then become a Raiders fan.

Yea but lately Raiders have been drafting football players with blazing speed and not track stars trying to play football. Right there is a big diffrence.

Punt returns is not about blazing speed. It is quickness and shiftiness. Most punt returns don't go more than 10-15 yards no matter who is running. It is rare in a game to get more than 15 yards on a punt return. You might on one return. You need to get guys who are going to avoid hits especially since you have a defender right in front of you when you catch the ball the second you catch it. These blazing speed guys usually get knocked down within a few yards.

As for kick returns, the new rules have changed the dynamics. It is becoming more like a punt return because you are consistently catching the ball in the end zone and the defenders are already on you by the time you reach the ten yard line. That means you gotta be able to make people miss a lot more and blazing speed guys typically don't have those moves. That is why a lot of teams are having punt returners do their kick returns now.

Edelman is just fine as a returner, besides I don't want a returner who takes it deep all the time, I'd rather have my offense control the ball, keep their defense on the field and wear them down.
