“I think these guys might be believing that they’re better than they are,” Namath said. “Rex has been the only coach that we know, in maybe the history of the game that I’m familiar with, that keeps continually telling his guys how good they are. And they have been pretty good — pretty good — but they haven’t won a championship yet. I think they’ve got to remember that there’s room for improvement.”
:rocker::rocker:

He speaks the truth............;)

Chances are, Namath's eyes were bloodshot during that interview. Should he be taken seriously?

jets are class less and this proves it more

Rex Ryan also has the fans thinking the Jets are better than they are :singing:

Well, we all saw how much he hyped his players last year, and it seemed to work. THEY believed they were better and played that way.

But it was kind of foolish, when Rex was running his mouth in 09 on how great Revis was, the best CB, etc, etc, wouldn't shut up about it, and then Revis he held out for more dough. Do you thing Tanny was pissed?

If I had some spare change, and i ran into a drunk street bum on the side of a curb. I'd give him the change.

That's how i view Joe Namath.

Did he try and kiss Rex? There's precedent for that sort of thing with Namath..... :D

There is a real danger that you constantly say you are the best team and how talented you are and you start to believe your own press clippings. Ryan's style may not be a long lived strategy. In Jets land, people talk about their back to back AFC Championship games as Super Bowl wins.

If the Jets fall apart this year, they lasted much longer than I thought they would under Ryan when he first shooting off his mouth. To his credit, he gets his players to step up in the playoffs, but there is a question of whether the style will work for the long term.

Rex will surely have a good rebuttal.

It's funny to see how Green Beans fans at places like JI turn on Namath whenever he says something level-headed like that. Suddenly he's a crazy old man that needs to shut up.

When you have these 2 CLOWNS on the same team

Super Bowls are guaranteed every year

Namath is right we have all seen the talk, but they will never walk the walk. Keep losing those BIGGEST games of your lives so I can ROFL @ the jesters and their preordained Super Bowl rings. You aint winning the SB kind on Sunday's go to TGI Fridays for some nice ONION Rings:) You know how you takje your kid and his team out for food after they lose badly... Rex should pay the TAB for some TGIF Onion Rings and potato skins b/c that is the CLOSEST he will ever get to tasting a SB.:bricks:
