I just love this guy, he is a lead blocking machine. Love the way he plays, he is a bad bad man

With you on that one,I'm an Evans fan also.He plays hard.

While his rep as a blocker last year wasn't impressive, I saw him taking pointers from Corey in TC on the RB blocking dummy. (Timing, launch point, etc.) He's defintely been working on it and the results are showing.

Didn't Heath block for Ladanian Tomlinson in college?

he's a beast...fast, big, powerful....

Ohh i am loving how everything is coming toghter just in time for the playoffs..

Merry X-mas bros..

From the day he signed on with us (from Miami as a outright released player, I believe). I have heard nothing but good things said about him from the Patriot players. I think I once read Tom Brady saying he could not believe the Dolphins would let him go.

I've also heard nothing but good things about Dave Thomas as well since he got here. Hard worker. Does everything he's told. Coachable. Eager to learn. Will play special teams gladly. Will block everyplay knowing he's not likely going to see any balls thrown his way......In a nutshell, he's born to be a Patriot.

I agree a good addition to the running game..I think the it's better than last year by FAR!!! Although lasy year was the year of the injuries...

Not from stats but just my aging memory, seems that Evans and Thomas have contributed a lot to the very high red zone percentage. Lots of Dillon and Maroney getting TDs off their blocks, and that dangerous package setting up play action.

As an aside, I thought I saw shades of Charlie Weis setting up Jax with those QB sneaks, then running Dillon off tackle for a 3rd (or was it 4th) down conversion.

I loved that sneak.. that was all brady .. just perfect

I like Heath because he wants to be here, wants to learn from Dillon and has great agility and skills for a big man.

You add good enough blocking and we have a potential Larry Centers "type".

I hate to judge anyone in absentia, but this further clouds the possible opportunities for TE(too small)/FB(never played it) Garret Mills.

I imagine he needs to become a special teams stalwart, but I'm not the personnel man.

Mills pretty much turned into a conversion project with the time he spent inactive this season. We don't know yet how the Pats intend to use him, but we do know he became the property of Woicik and Nash, which should make for some interesting changes when he reports in for Mini-camp next June.

:rocker: Got to love this guy!!!He is a very good fit for this team....He is definety team frist attutide. He is a beast and thinking he is gonna be be here for awhile....GO PATS!!!!!

The coaches have been teaching him and working with him. He is the only back other than Dillon who is big enoughto be a Fullback and a real lead back. Like the job they did with Steven Neal, the Coaches are taking a sow's ear and turning it into a silk purse.

Elsewhere, it was said that Evans was getting 20% of the snaps; Highly doubtful; but if true, he was in as a WR and blitz pickup role. There have been very few lead block running plays.

Greatly improved. I remember people here wanting him cut during preseason, and honestly I wouldn't have been heartbroken if he was. Now I realize what a mistake that would have been. Plus I love his interviews, shows he's a team first guy

When I look at my TV tape, Evans is in roughly 20% of the offensive snaps. Unlike your buddy, I do try to establish some facts before spouting my ignorance.

This is funny to me. Heath Evans was one the fullbacks in the nation coming out of college. He blocked for Rudi Johnson at Auburn. He doesn't need to learn how to block.

Well if they can stretch him, we can always use another TE.:D

Well, I'm glad that was their college assessment for him, but his blocking last season looked nothing like that you'd expect from a 5 year vet competing with Lorenzo Neal for probowl votes - this year to last is night and day when reviewing tape.
