The Raiders are the number one rushing offense in the league at 185 YPG and 5.5 YPC. The Patriots defense counters that with the 11th ranked rushing defense at 91 YPG and 4.3 YPC.

The Raiders are the 25th rated passing offense at 211 YPG and 7.1 YPA The Patriots defense is last against the pass at 377 YPG

The Patriots are 13th in Rushing offense at 102 YPG and 4.2 YPC. The Raiders are 25th against the run giving up 120 YPG and 5.8 YPC

The Pats are the number one passing offense at 442 YPG and 10 YPA. The Raiders are the 28th ranked pass defense at 289 YPG.

Clearly we have two teams that aren't very good at defense and get it done on offense in a very different manner. From a Patriots perspective I have to wonder the following.

1. Will we see more 3-4 this week since they will be looking to stop the run first.

2. Will Ridley get a shot at being the feature back.

3. With the Raiders speedy receivers coupled with the excellent running game mean more zone and less man.

4. The Raiders in spite of not having a great passing defense do have 10 sacks. Will the Pats be bringing another TE in to help with the rush? If Volmer is back does that mean more TE time for Solder.

The injury report is going to really impact this game. I think Chung is particularly important as the best run supporter in the secondary. If Albert can play at a high level that's also very important. He's been inconsistent when he's been in there so far. He cannot take plays off or we'll get gashed.

Considering the Raiders rush defense this is a good week to establish the feature back. I'd like to see Ridley get 15 rushes and then go play action off of that a lot. Much less open backfield spread formations.

One person:

Darren McFadden.

He will shred this defense if we don't step it up. He demolished the Jets "top" run-stopping defense, I can't imagine how hard he's licking his chops at ours.

I still think we win because of offense

Re: Raiders discussion

Fatass Al better put down the cheeseburgers and put on his chin strap and get back out on the field...his huge frame is needed to stuff that running game.

Fred Jackson looked like O.J. Simpson on some plays yesterday.

Denarius Moore Will shred our secondary as well.

Re: Raiders discussion

I hope we win in a shootout, with McFadden putting up some beast numbers so I dominate my fantasy game.

Not to forget Big Sey waiting for us as well. They better show up angry as Rodney mentioned yesterday.

Re: Raiders discussion

I agree with this. We need to take one player out of the game. We did this with Bush. We did this with Gates. I don't know about yesterday. We need to do it again with McFadden.

And yes, we have seen the quality of our passing defense. Our run defense will now be tested.

Re: Raiders discussion

Not here to trash talk to Pats fan. Only here to discuss the upcoming game vs the Pats. I do see Brady coming out firing on all cylinders using 4 WR sets with quick passes. Raiders have really struggled against the short passing game and it showed vs Buffalo. To minimize the Raiders pass rush its all about 3 step drops and quick passes which the Pats are really good at and I see them doing it successfully against us.

As for my Raiders we need to run the ball well and we have been. We run the ball well and keep Brady off the field for as long as we can. Campbell can produce if the run game gets going. If the Raiders can somehow get to Brady and then that will be even better. Remember the Raiders mostly man to man defense most of the game. They might play a little zone but expect man to man most of the time. One more point is our D-Line is what makes our defense go and they can rush the passer as well as anybody.

Thats all for now Pats fans. Good Luck on Sunday.

Stack up against the run and let Campbell beat you

Jason Campbell's last start against the Pats was not a very memorable one to him in terms of good memories,I am sure.

That game was the 52-7 Beatdown of the Redskins in 2007 and the biggest ass whooping of any NFL team in decades.

He didnt play horrid that game and had 197 yards with 1 INT and 1 TD

This time around he is QB for a better team than the 07 Redskins and against a much weaker opponent in the 11 Pats than the 07 Pats

Re: Raiders discussion

McFadden for 350+ ?

Mayo and Spikes have seemed lost in the running game. The running plays go right in their gap, and they run right into a block on the outside.

The top 3 in tackles against the Bills were corners, not good.

Re: Raiders discussion

If Brady plays a near flawless game, the Pats will win. It will be a high scoring game. The defense will bend and break. I suspect theirs will too. 41-38.

I hope jacoby Ford and Louis Murphy back this week .

Chaz schilens and D Hagan/ DHB/ Louis Murphy on the outside with jacoby ford and Deanarius moore on the inside With D Mcfadden as single back. Thats alot of explosive weapons and speed to burn on offense to deal with.

Re: Raiders discussion

If we can commit to and contain McFadden, forcing Cambell to win it, I feel good about our chances on defense. It would be nice to have Chung and Dowling back as well.

Re: Raiders discussion

The betting line initially opened with the Patriots as 5½ point favorites, though that has quickly shifted to 4½ points. Considering the game is in Oakland I'm a bit surprised that is that high. Apparently Vegas thinks the gambling public has more faith in the Pats ability to rebound than this forum does.

The over/under is not quite as safe a bet as it has been the last couple of weeks; it's a season-high 55 points, which is 8 points higher than any other week four game.

Not to mention that he had 2 fumbles from two Mike Vrabel :)blush:) sacks in that game.

Re: Raiders discussion

the pats are giveing up 4.3 yerds per att tied for 19th in the NFL and they are 32th ranked pass defense giveing up 377 yerds per game with a 9 yerd per att average and a QB rateing of 94.6

the pats have a lot more then just Darren McFadden to worry about Oakland has some of the fastest WR's in the NFL i look for them to come out throwing the ball

Re: Raiders discussion

Sounds crazy after the last games, but I say we won't give up more than 17 points...gotta go out on a limb once in a while!
