How bad is Chad Jackson right now?

i totally agree with you - as soon as i saw the pass i was sure the gain was zero

still the question is why he is not used...of course there are reasons that we do not know...but still...

probaby we expected much more for a 2nd rounder expected to finish in the first rounder...

There was nothing wrong with the play call. It was an excellernt play by the defensive payer. If he hadn't made that tackle, that would have gone for good yardage. Jackson did nothing wrong on the play.

The other team are professionals football players and they do make good plays. The other team has a professional coaching staff and they call defensive and offensive paly that work sometimes.

This is something that the person that you just agreed with does not understand and does not give any credit to because he would rather dump on the OC's, who have forgotten more about football than he has ever known.

If the Pats play the B team as expected next week, I'll be interested in seeing how much time CJ spends on the field.

Last Sunday, vs. the Texans, CJ didn't see a lot of passing snaps even after the game was salted away. This says that it's more than BB just not having faith in Jackson, but also worrying about Jackson's ability to handle more playing time, physically.

If he doesn't see the field a lot as part of the sub team next week, this would support my theory.

I thought Chad did a good job avoiding having his head knocked off. the play was obviously going nowhere.

Apparently Jackson gets more respect from opposing defenses than he does here.

I can't wait to log in here after our Super Bowl win to read how our playcalling sucked, we didn't pass enough, didn't use the right players etc.

LOL!!!:D

That would be a hypothesis.

New member/fan here. About Chad Jackson, does anyone remember Terry Glenn and how long it took him to get "on track". Matter of fact how has he been doing with Cowboys, gonna be on TV in a couple of hours.
I agree with an earlier reply, no receiver in the league would have done any better with that horrible play yesterday, a line of scrimmage pass. Jeeze, who called that play?? Hoping CD will be better next year after a whole training camp.

Chad will be alright.....probly not this year.....he need a year under his belt.....maybe there is more to his hammy.....this BJ thing.....he is Chad,he is not BETHAL....wait until next year and see if see these same thread:confused: GO PATS!!!!

Well if indeed it was Chad hammy's that were injured twice now, and the fact that BB said that Chad was only in for a few PASSING plays last week, and mostly in for running plays my guess is this. Chad need to redo his workout regime in order to get his hammy's so they do go so quickly, and since they keep going on him this year, BB is using him mostly as a WR to run block, so he doesn't have to get up to speed quickly (like normal WR routes, but not screens and reverses which he seems to run alot with CJ) which is what makes the hammy's go.

IMHO just guessing.

PS I hate these statements

32 teams passed on him, which means he is a second rounder and NOTHING more.

Look it was BB that moved up to get him..and it was BB that said that they got 2 first round draft picks..

It's irrelevant. Most WR don't do much their rookie year. Can you name exceptions ? Of course you can. But most WR taken in the first three rounds don't do a lot. Jackson is below average in productivity but if he had been healthy through camp he would probably have been around average. Still not enough to satisfy people here but still average. If this is still going on two years from now - then he's a bust. The fact that Glenn caught on quickly is irrelevant.

The one pass that was thrown to him was an absolutely awful play call, doomed for failure.

Ir was a parrallel pass, along the line of scrimmage that went for a 3 yard loss as the DB easily saw it coming and nailed Jackson almost as he caught the ball.

* The Patriots have thrown passes parrallel to the LOS successfully for years now. Even that very same play to Troy Brown in the slot like Chad was. It depends on him getting the ball in time to make the 1st DB miss. It didn't happen. In no NFL game in history has every played worked as designed. Not even slants -:)

Sometimes drugs help you relax. Are you suggesting Jackson emulate Terry?

Good post, but using Glenn's 1st season as an example is using the exception as if it is the rule.

Of course in his second season, he was kicked off the team and wasn't eve voted a ring despite catching 14 balls.

He's lucky to have hooked back up with Parcells who has become kind of a father figure to him. Berating his masculinity and constantly shouting at him meant "daddy" to Terry and I wish him the best, and hope he's really dealt with his alcohol/drug/psychological problems.

Glenn was a #7 overall BTW, so that's a lot to give up.

Jackson's got to earn his spot, whether through blocking, running short passes etc.

BB likes to reduce the ego first, for rookies, that's his style.

Nope, just responding to the guy who asked how Glenn did as a rookie - clearly asking why Jackson isn't doing the same.

Why do you think the Pats will play the B team against the Titans? They are, very much, fighting for play-off seeding.

Last Sunday, vs. the Texans, CJ didn't see a lot of passing snaps even after the game was salted away. This says that it's more than BB just not having faith in Jackson, but also worrying about Jackson's ability to handle more playing time, physically.

They didn't have a lot of passing snaps after the game was salted away, as you say. So, why would Jackson see the field?

If he doesn't see the field a lot as part of the sub team next week, this would support my theory.

So, what you are saying is that BB has lied to everyone so far each time he has given Jackson praise. Which has been several times. I will take BB over you.

Quoted you by accident, BF. Merry Freakin' Christmas.

I'm doing some muscle relaxers myself, but they are only for my back.;)

CJ should see some significant action next week I would wager.

As some I am a bit disappointed with C.J this year but
I read this on another Team's board and Just thought I would toss this out
They were talking about one of their receivers as well

"As many have said it takes 2 to 3 years for a wide out to become a star."

Kight and Childress were both healthy for training camp and pre-season. Give Chad another year or two, and - oh yeah - relax.

Yawn! Yet another love him or hate him thread about CJ.

But one thing... If it takes two more years, we got nuthin outta the kid, cause he'll be an RFA after that.

* So is this finally going to be his often predicted breakout game? -:) I admit I really haven't any idea what's going on with Chad. I've read things in the papers and people guessing here and elsewhere about why they haven't used him more. I don't even have a real good guess.

Ir was a parrallel pass, along the line of scrimmage that went for a 3 yard loss as the DB easily saw it coming and nailed Jackson almost as he caught the ball. In that situation, IMO of course, a quick inside slant woul;d have worked....

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII JAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

I think its a combination of things with Chad. First off her came out of college as a junior so thats a good indicator that he will take a bit longer to start to reach his potential than we might like . Combine the injuries and how they kept him out of camp and practices and he's even more behind. I think the thing that did him in was that he was getting closer and emulating Doug "Raiders attitude and work ethic" Gabriel more than Troy and Reche. All this adds up to a somewhat immature guy who's rehabbing from some nagging injuries while he tries to improve his work ethic and learn one of the toughest systems for a receiver in the NFL. Given all this I don' expect anything from CJ until next season, and I think in the long run he'll benefit from having such a tough season his first year in the league.

Chad Johnson's rookie year (2nd round pick) 28 catches, 329 yards, 11.8 average.

Chad Johnson's second year 69 catches, 1166 yards, 16.9 average.
