So bad that Kelvin Kight a UDFA out of Florida who was an afterthought to Jackson in school...played in 40% of the snaps while Jackson played 10% or 7 plays.

I'll reserve final judgement on the kid until about week 10 next year but it doesn't look great...

I also just realized that aside from Troy and Bam, we have a nearly 100% Florida WR core. Maybe we should bring in Spurrier to coach offense! (That was a joke)

Shades of Bethel in him?

finally the weekly CJ thread ! :)

Really though...two scrubs get time on the field over a 2nd rounder who was supposed to go in the first?

SO CHildress, and Kight are better?

Ouch

Why do we keep rehashing this ? Kight has been in the league a few years and was healthy during camp when you learn the offense. Jackson wasn't. Childress was on the team last year. Once the season starts most of the time goes to preparation not learning. It's a shame but Chad missed a critical piece of his rookie year before it even began.

You really must stop confusing people with facts :)

Hopefully he is not , yet, another victim of BB's ire.

Besides Gabriel who is gone, who else is do you think is in BB's doghouse?

Don't you think that by Week 16, none of this matters? I'm not piling on...I hope Jackson evolves into the weapon we'd all like. I happened to watch the tape of the Bears game this week and Jackson and Brady just missed on two long plays that would have been incredible. CJ's got the speed and the hands, but yesterday's lack of playing time and production in a pass-dominated game plan would seem to make clear that he will be an asterisk this year and we'll all be hoping and praying for a different result next year.

To end on a positive note though: Watson's absence has enabled three exciting new passing threats: Faulk's greater presence and variety, Maroney's greater involvement in the passing game, and Thomas's hands -- what a breakout game for him! Personally, I'm 100% thrilled -- Chad, see you next year.

Could you kindly list for me, just within the past 10 years, all the rookie wide receivers who missed training camp and went on to have big rookie seasons?

Lets get serious here. Rookie QBs, safeties and linebackers who miss camp are at a huge disadvantage for the entirety of the season - they need to learn schemes. As far as wideouts, lets put this in perspective: these are the 10 routes we want you to run and if your corner blitzes, learn this hot route. I'm not going to throw Jackson under the bus; just not defend him with bogus excuses.

Kight and Childress were both healthy for training camp and pre-season. Give Chad another year or two, and - oh yeah - relax.

Not according to Bill Belichick - but let's go with your take instead.

The one pass that was thrown to him was an absolutely awful play call, doomed for failure.

Ir was a parrallel pass, along the line of scrimmage that went for a 3 yard loss as the DB easily saw it coming and nailed Jackson almost as he caught the ball. In that situation, IMO of course, a quick inside slant woul;d have worked....
The parallel pass, along the line of scrimmage, in that situation, gave the DB the advantage and control of the play.

I , along with most of us, really have no idea why Jackson isnt being used.

i totally agree with you - as soon as i saw the pass i was sure the gain was zero

still the question is why he is not used...of course there are reasons that we do not know...but still...

probaby we expected much more for a 2nd rounder expected to finish in the first rounder...

Well if indeed it was Chad hammy's that were injured twice now, and the fact that BB said that Chad was only in for a few PASSING plays last week, and mostly in for running plays my guess is this. Chad need to redo his workout regime in order to get his hammy's so they do go so quickly, and since they keep going on him this year, BB is using him mostly as a WR to run block, so he doesn't have to get up to speed quickly (like normal WR routes, but not screens and reverses which he seems to run alot with CJ) which is what makes the hammy's go.

IMHO just guessing.

PS I hate these statements
we expected much more for a 2nd rounder expected to finish in the first rounder

32 teams passed on him, which means he is a second rounder and NOTHING more.

Hey we made the playoffs, aren't you excited?

The one time I agree with NEM is that the pass to CJ was an ill-fated call. The DB was playing up too close. Bad call, in that particular instance.

A bad call??

When do you think they make the call?? After everyone lines up?

Its a bad read, not call and that was Brady's fault on that play, not the OC.

Exactly, and as an unabashed Brady toady I can admit that - he's close to perfect, but running this offense he's entitled to a few mulligans a game. As for Chad, I think he's limited to running the routes he can execute. If he could execute more of them his repetoire would expand exponentially. Belichick has this quirky little habit of refusing to play guys who haven't shown him in practice that they can be reasonably expected to do the job. And while it may frustrate some fans who assume all players can do the job if just given the chance... his way grows players who know what is expected of them and either learn to deliver it routinely (earn playing time) or move on.

I personally think there is a little more under foot here than a hammy. Chad did say in an interview this week that he was so focused on getting his hammy healthy earlier this year he didn't really immerse himself in the playbook. He needs to learn to prioritize and manage his time better I think. BB keeps saying positive things about him when pressed, but then he did that with Bethel too for a while. And so did Brady. What I have noticed is Brady is noticeably non committal or circumspect (or almost frosty) when Chad's name comes up these days. Time will tell, but it won't be any time soon.

It is also worth remembering that this draft was billed as one of the weakest talent wise at the WR position in some time.

I'm guessing they yanked him early because he was not doing what he was suppose to do and they replaced him in favor of a wr that was runnign the right route.

I bet he has lost alot of confidence too.

He'll benefit from another offseason.

I think that the play called was a quick screen to CJ. Brady took the snap and threw there right away without hesitation. Yes, PERHAPS he should have read the coverage and either checked off and checked down to another option. The rush was quick and so was Brady's move.

Brady had a good game relative to NFL QBs even though on his performance scale he missed several opportunities to convert on 3rd down...another topic.
