That play where maurice jones drew just BULLdozed bruschi for the 1st just shouldnt have happened....

I now jump on a draft a Linebacker bandwagon...bruschi 2 years ago..that is a stuffed play regardless of who has the rock.. you can argue of angles and all..but he had a clear hit on him...

I still love bruschi tho dont take this as a bruschi bash at all..infact hes my fav pat...but i am being realistic..

kick ass game so far..loving our o..its starting to have an idenity and gel play after play..:rocker:

One play is a poor basis to decide that we need new LB's. Our front seven is among the best in the league. I agree that we should start picking up some new talent, but I dono't believe it is the most urgent need on the team.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the sky is falling the sky is falling AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

oh I agree brother...but that was the straw that broke that camels back for me..ive seen some of our linebackers (minus seau) get pushed back and smacked in the mouth ALOT more than usual...I hate seeing it.. we need a thicknecked run stuffer..once again..this is NO bash...one more time..NOT A BASH ON OUR FRONT SEVEN!!!!!!

I think you posted this too early, because that was the only time drew got the best of Bruschi. After that play, bruschi made it a point to get all of drew, and played a great game.

I concur..... Bruschi rocks;however, I think it's time for another run stuffing 'backer (or two) to play inside. Maybe high draft pick lb and an experienced 'backer via free agency would do the trick (Chicage Bears stud 'backer who is coming up on free agency? forget his name).

No I dont think i made it early at all.. Infact i was tempted to post it weeks ago..but I didnt want to anger all the smart guys here and those who think the pats can never do wrong...Its been happening all season.. some of our linebackers are getting smacked around...and it happens to em all..ray lewis to urlacher down to no named joe...But its happening more and more to our Backers...runningBacks are starting to beat us physically, which is something I didnt see happening 2-3 seasons ago. Add in the factors of age, lack of depth, size and strength of these younger running backs..and our future at that poision is clear..

Now once again for the last time..this is NOT, absolutely NOT a bruschi bash..or a patriot bash..Bruschi is still top 15 ilb in the game playing..and one smart defensive player..very textbook and no one on the team (except for brady maybe) can replace the fire the guy has. and I agree totally 110% percent our front seven cannot be messed with.. This is strictly looking into the distant future...Great game today...well deserved victory... now heres to the holidays and hoping santa drops off a 7'0-380 pound mlb who runs the 40 in 4.3 seconds...=D

Cheers guys!

I think our Defense play a hell of game,no doubt about it.....Maybe we should bring one of our 1st rounds at a stud LB.....Who else be a better for young stud LB to learn from.....This is not saying the sky is falling.....But I am saying look to the future......Nothing more or nothing less....GO PATS!!!!!!HAPPY HOLIDAYS......PATROIT NATION!!!!!!!:rocker:

There are LBs in development on Special Teams: Alexander, Woods, and Mays. This is the same path TBC, and Bruschi before him, followed. Gardner is on IR and came to the Pats a bit light from the Herm-led Jets, hopefully this recovery time and the off-season conditioning program will bulk him up more for ILB play.

For BB's eighth draft in April, he may indeed find a college LB who he feels is worth a first day selection, but we can only hope. As many have noted, Lance Briggs is a UFA in March, again we have to wait and see if BB chooses to bid for him the way he did for Colvin.

It may be that the LBs have been driven back and run over by various RBs this year, but the team statistics - 4th best rush defense at 87.7 yds/game coming into this week - argues they don't get knocked back as often as anecdotal evidence suggests.

Great points bro and i appreciate that you add on to the subject and you def DO open my eyes to some of the talent we have way down hidden on our roster..but i know what i see bro..and I see our linebackers (minus seau and maybe vrabel) get smashed into and blown out of poistion more often than in seasons past...Those stats are DEFENSIVE stats meaning..the whole unit is involved..and the reason ,imo, for our great running stuffing ..is our dline..

ONCE AGAIN..tho..this is NOT discrediting our LB corps because we do have a top notch squad..this is just pointing out signs that maybe a nice infiltration of youth, size, and speed could def help in the long run..especially when speaking of the physical aspect of the game... Same goes for our secondary..I mean everyone trashes our secondary...I feel our secondary is up to par with the rest of the D..but theres no secert to it anylonger tho..our small defensive backfield suffers key injuries every season because they are severly undersized now..recievers and tight ends coming out drafts are becoming MONSTERS, marvels of the human species being so musclar, tall and fast..and technique and skill will stop them 70% of the time but the other 30%..chances are your going to get run over..or go for a big hit and bounce right off the reciever while breaking ur shoulder.. in other words..harrison is still the freaking man..and one hell of a safety one of the greats..but he doesnt have that enforcer title..wether it be injuries, or age whatever it is..hes just not FEARED as much as he was...I think our D needs that rough, loud mouth, who can lay the smack down when needs be and keep opposing players in check..in the lb corps or secondary...every great Belicheck D has had one..

Thanks to u all for replying to some of my recent posts..wether u bashed me, or brough other things to my attention..this is what i love about this board..

Go Pats..everyone get ur seatbelts on tight...cause the rollercoaster is on its final lap this season..i just hope it never dips back down from here on out..

Brady...playoffs this season = Man possesed.

I want Lance Briggs on this team next year. London Fletcher would be nice too if we don't get Briggs. Heck, if Junior Seau came back if other options fall through, i'd be pretty happy with that too.

Unquestionably the D-line plays a significant role in the run defense, but it is too easy to take away game impressions - especially when we watch the game with such passion - and allow those to color our thinking. Certainly our favorite Head Coach is quick to defer an assessment until after he has looked at tape. My own efforts are amateur in the most extreme meaning of the word :D , but my look back using the game recording doesn't support your own impression. I also note the top 10 tacklers on the team breakdown into 4 LB, 4 DB, and 2 DL - team stats or no, the individuals are playing their role within the scheme to achieve that 4th place run defense.

BB has remarked on how difficult it is to find big men with the athleticism, strength, and intelligence to play on his D-line. I'm beginning to think that may also be the case for his linebackers - which may even be a more difficult challenge because of his desire to have experience at the position.

Sanders is looking pretty good as a future replacement for Rodney, we'll have to wait and see if he can eventually gain any reputation for intimidation.

It is a difficult challange to find human boulders to plug the middle of the field; Urlacher is about the only guy I can think of who approaches the level of a Seau. As you noted, London Fletcher is over 30 and while just the kind of veteran whom we project to do well in the Patriot system, he's also closer to Bruschi's finesse play than TJ/Seau/Urlacher style head butting - certainly Patriot RBs don't fall backward when they meet him. I just don't see the available boulders in the NFL ranks outside of Seau - and I don't hear of any Urlachers in the college ranks at the moment.

It won't be this draft but I would like to keep an eye on Laurenitis out of Ohio State..he looks pretty nasty. Plus his dad is Animal of Legion of Doom fame.

(I know some of you will say Katzenmoyer but I'll say AJ HAwk)
