Why Are We Suiting Up Only One TE?

Who are the Bills 3rd and 4th CB? Line up with 3 & 4 WR's, spread them out and (hopefully) Taylor Price has a big game :D

Sorry my friend but Price was downgraded to OUT last night.

Maybe it's being done to mess with the Bills? The Pats have had great success with Gronk and Hernandez on the field so now they might be wondering, (like us) "what are they going to do with only 1 TE?"

Oh that sucks :bricks:

So who is left for this game? Welker, Ochocinco, Edelman, Gronk & Branch?

EDIT
Oh wait there's Slater too

Slater is not trivial. If nothing else, he can drag a CB with him and turn the rest of the offense into 10-on-10. Also, I presume he's one of our best-blocking WRs, which matters in a game where we're light on TEs.

It feels like we're taking a big risk here on a divisional game.

But BB knows more than we.

Go Pats!

Today is really troubling.....

Only one TE, no back-up tackle, already playing with a back-up Center, no Hanyesworth, Hernandez, Chung, Vollmer, ouch that's missing 6% of your starters!

Serioulsy the aPats play alot of 2 TEs, I thought SOlder played well as the third TE, but he is going to have to play RT. I'm guesssing that we might see alot of Dane Fletcher at TE.

Chung is a big giant missing part, the Pats better find some sort of pass rush today ot they could be in serious trouble.

On the other hand, if they win today they will be 2-0 in the division with only one division road game left for the whole year!

Pretty sure that this was gameplanned for early on, and he is compensating somehow..

My biggest concern is the lack of O line depth..

Do not think he is trying to "mess" with anyone, just trying to field a mentally tough team who can win this game..

I get a weird deja vu feeling about this game....reminds me sort of the lead up to the Buffalo game when Milloy was cut that week ....

I "liked" this, but I don't like it.....

Solder will be playing TE2.

Can me bring Mike Vrabel out of retirement :D?

If Solder does indeed line up for TE2, I'll be very interested to see how he does. Haven't seen him catch a pass yet, but Belichick puts high value on the blocking TE as well as players with versatility.

These aren't the Bills of last year, Fitzpatrick has been lighting it up. The right gameplan is probably to pound the rock and take the wind out of the Bills' passing sails, but I would love to see another 400+ yarder from Brady this week. Maybe even with Ocho this time.

:D

Solder is lining up at RT, Vollmer is OUT.

Because they currently only have one TE who's both healthy and worth a damn.

If Chad is improving, you don't need 2TE.
We could have 3WR or 2RB out there for the majority of the plays.

I don't get this comment. Wouldn't any receiver lined up attract a CB to cover him? I mean if Hoyer went out there as a WR, surely the defense would have to assign a CB to him in coverage.

He's starting at RT.

Solder is lining up at RT, Vollmer is OUT.

In certain goal line situations, would you put it past Scarnecchia to sub in Thomas or Wendell into the line so that BB can push Solder out to TE2? Its plausible - their 2TE sets at the goal line have been the best in the NFL since the Graham/Watson era - can't strip them out of the playbook for an entire game.

Bingo.

BB has been coaching a long time. The current two TE plan has been around for...what, a season and 1/9th? Who was the second TE in the days of Ben Coates? Russ Francis? John Mackey? Mike Ditka?

I love the 2 TE set for the Pats. And, I am sure it wasn't easy making the personnel decisions, i.e., letting Dan Gronk go. But, it probably took BB all of about 30 seconds to figure out what to do next, be it, three wideouts, run the ball more, more screeens, whatever.

I am far more worried about the D side of the ball.

"Drag a CB" means that Slater goes, say, 20-30 yards downfield, and the CB is forced to follow to prevent having a wide-open receiver, thus taking him out of any possible play near the LOS.

Our offense is the least of our worries. Seems to me we have enough experience and weapons to score a lot of points in any scenario. But, look at these teams. The Bills (who have injuries of their own) beat KC, which is playing like a second or third string team, and Oakland, who barely edged a weak Broncos team. If Brady continues with his accuracy and if the line holds, I think we will be okay. Our D of course is suspect, but I have to believe it will improve week after week. The loss Chung is a big deal, of course, but I remember we won some pretty important games in the past when Rodney Harrison didn't play. Maybe we'll see a little bit more of BB ingenuity in this game.

I think whichever RB combo has more success will win this game, that means Woodhead/BJGE vs. Spiller/Jackson duel more than Brady Vs. Kirkpatrick

I can see both teams with 120+ yards rushing in this game and a ground based game that moves the clock fast.

I think you mean Fitzpatrick. And I think you're wrong. The running game of the Pats is much more dependent on blockers than you are giving it credit for. I think we'll see a lot of 4 and 5 wr sets that will let Brady pick apart the Bills D.

The Bills, on the other hand, will want to throw it because our secondary is in shambles. No Chung. No Dowling. The two guys at safety (Barrett and Brown) are much better special teamers than they are starting safeties.. Look for Fitzpatrick to Nelson, Johnson and Chandler, deep. And that will give Fred Jackson that much more room to run on us.
