Or, why wasn't Tom Welch activated?

Mankins, with Wendell/Thomas at guard.

The Pats have had too many injuries, to the point where they are out of "free cuts," or guys like Warren, DGronk, etc. Thus, they have deemed keeping one of their young guys worth the gamble of only dressing two OTs and one TE.

How is Phillip Adams not a "free cut".

Now that Dowling and Arrigton are back, we have our FIVE corners active, icnlduing developmental corner Molden.

I don't think that we need both Molden and Adams.

So, if Solder is injured, otr stubs a toe, we will have a chinese fire drill with three player switching positions Light to RT, Mankins to LT and Thomas or Wendell to guard? That's our best option?

If that's true, then we need to go out and find a backup veteran OT.

No worries, TheSolderKing assures me the Pats have plenty of O Line depth.

And trust me I've looked and there is not a lot out there for good Vet. depth in regards to O line men.

In fact if you find one, I'll fight you for him.:)

I wish we kept Maneri.

I found one!!!!

Vlad Ducks-azz...oh wait...sorry...fuhgeddaboudit...there's OL'man dead and buried 20 years now better than Vlad the Imposter...(see that,Gunns??? I took Vlad the Impaler and twisted it into a funny...that's why I'll be here all week...try the calves liver)

Vlad is going to be Solder on steroids and other awesome things. Next year.

Vlad the Handsome also has great hair. He is just stuck behind the bench on a deep Jets O line.

Agreed. Belichick made a big mistake keeping Tarp over Maneri at the start of the year. Especially since they cup Tarp a week later, he made it to the practice squad and was signed once again.

Losing Maneri was a big mistake.

They need special teamers. Bodden, Dowling, and Arrington are all beat up and therefore probably not playing on coverage units. Barrett and Brown are starting and therefore will probably not play as much on coverage units.

A few more injuries on that line and Belichick may ask Alexa Flutie to suit up

I agree. That's why Tarp and Ventrone were called up. That's why Molden is on the team.

I had thought Adams was called up as a backup corner, rather than as a STer, when Dowling and Arrington were doubtful.

Or put Thomas in at RT and cover him up with Gronk (effectively making Gronk the RT). Whatever the answer is, you can be sure that:

a) Belichick has seen it in practice and...
b) It looked better than Welch at RT

The idea that Belichick would go into a game with only 2 tackles active and then be all messed up if one gets hurt seems a bit off the mark to me. Dude may dial up the wrong answer, but I doubt he gets caught in a situation he hasn't considered.

If that's true, then we need to go out and find a backup veteran OT.

Welch is the 4th OT. The guy that is usually inactive and rarely plays when he is active. Not a gig for a veteran OT except one looking to draw a last paycheck and relax on Sundays. Exactly the type of guy you want to call on a moment's notice to protect Brady's knees.

That being said, if the injury situation for the rest of the team were more under control, I'm sure Welch would have been signed. The overall makeup of the team is almost certainly why the Pats went light at OT and heavy at DB.

Personally, I thought LeVoir had done good enough when called upon. Then again, I was really angry when we let Hochstein go too. I have a lot of respect for the swing lineman. I wasn't quite as enamored with Maneri as some here were, but I'm hardly an expert on offensive linemen either.

At this point, with the cap room etc, I wish that we would've kept Kaczur too, after all, the money isn't going anywhere.

I am perplexed that the Pats haven't activated Welch.. I guess Donald Thomas is going to be the reserve OT since he played RG and TE at UCONN.. He could see time in the goal line situations as well as a blocking TE.

What I know is that the Pats are WOEFULLY thin on the O-line and TE. And the Safety position is in Shambles.. The D-line with Wilfork, Love, Ellis, Carter, and Cohen should be ok.. Especially using the 4-3 where they put Cunningham or Ninkovich at at DE spot.
