Edds got cut. Why?

Also:

With the open practice squad spot, the Patriots sign DB Josh Victorian.

Edds got cut. Why?

I will guess he was so out of his depth in the 10 snaps he had against the Chargers?
It feels like we just used him though.

Perhaps Tarp will replace Arrington on Special teams this week.

Color me confused. They just cut one Hawkeye LB for another, and I could have sworn I saw Edds on ST, though I could be wrong.

I agree, this has the look of a ST deal.

As more secondary personnel go down, more need to shore up ST.

Told everyone Edds wouldn't last more than a few weeks.

Edds wasn't paying with a lot of fire or emotion, to my eyes. Is Tarpinian like a younger Dane Fletcher?

Tarp plays full of fire, but he's a lot lighter than Fletcher and not nearly as strong. IMO his best bet to be part of the defense would be as a situational SS/LB hybrid.

Tarpinian seems like a pure ST demon to me.

Maybe we should've called up a tight end. Seems like both Hernandez and D. Gronk missed practice.

Let me be clear. I was not someone who wanted Tarp on the original 53-man roster. HOWEVER, at present I think that he is valuable enough to be active this week and for the forseeable future. We need to limit the Special Teams play of our secondary. After all, most of them are playing with casts.

And, in the end, as long as Tarp performs reasonably well on Special Teams, he is likely to stay on the roster. It is not unusual for the patriots to have two LB/STers on the roster. We had Izzo and Davis together for four years.

Arrington returned to practice, not that it means he'll play. It may be for Chung. He's a part of many of the special team units.

You mean white, yes.

I've giving up attempting to divine the rationale behind recent personnel moves.

they kept this kid for a reason.

let's see what he can do on game days.

another special teams demon, methinks, at the very least.

Yup.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him at LB when Spiller is in the game--he might play a bit of the role Fletcher played last year against Rice when Fletcher was about 10 pounds lighter.

Tarpinian was a HS Option QB that originally played SS at Iowa. Then he was moved to LB. I would like to think that he can contribute in pass coverage. We got killed by the Fins and Bolts RBs coming out of the backfield. Jackson and Spiller can both run and catch.

I thought Edds would not only be a ST'er, but have a dual role as long snapper thus freeing up a roster spot...

Guess I was wrong.
