Patriots (2-0) at Bills (2-0) 1:00PM ET

kinda obvious. The winner of this game will either be in sole possession of first in the AFCE or have the second tiebreaker over the Jets.

Jets (2-0) at Raiders (1-1) 4:05PM ET

For the second week in a row the Raiders play a hated division rival. For the second week in a row it is in the Pats interest to root for the Raiders, 2nd round pick be damned.

Dolphins (0-2) at Browns (1-1) 1:00PM ET

Rounding out the root against division rivals. Some may be writing the fish off, with the 0-2 start. But teams have started out 0-2 and not only won the division but the SB as well.

Texans (2-0) at Saints (1-1) 1:00PM ET

Two ways to look at this. One way, at 2-0 the Texans are a risk to NE for home-field, byes, or a wildcard spot, the Saints ain't, so go Saints. On the other hand NE owns the Saints first round pick, so go Texans. I am going with the latter. But the former is just as logical of an approach.

Chiefs (0-2) at Chargers (1-1) 4:05PM ET

Another one where there are two ways to look at it. Chargers are more of a risk to NE for playoff seeding than the Chiefs. But just barely, with NE being 1.5 games up on the SD. Someone needs to win the AFCW, my preference is anyone but Oakland, Chargers have a better shot at it than the Chiefs.

Broncos (1-1) at Titans (1-1) 1:00PM ET

Same reason as rooting for Chargers. Someone needs to win the AFCW, anyone but Oakland.

Giants (1-1) at Eagles (1-1) 1:00PM ET

NE has the Eagles 7th round pick. Yeah, big whoopie not the same as the deal with the Saints or Oakland. But it is the only rational reason to pick one team over the other. Of course if you hate the Giants root for the Eagles.

Jaguars (1-1) at Panthers (0-2) 1:00PM ET

Panthers are in the same division as the Saints -- anybody but the Saints. And Jax is in the AFC thus a threat to NE for the playoffs, Panthers are not.

Steelers (1-1) at Colts (0-2) 8:20PM ET

Steelers are more of a threat for playoff seedings.

49ers (1-1) at Bengals (1-1) 1:00PM ET

Absent anything better root for the NFC over the AFC.

Ravens (1-1) at Rams (0-2) 4:05PM ET

ditto

Falcons (1-1) at Buccaneers (1-1) 4:15PM ET

Doesn't really matter. I don't care if the Bucs or Falcons win the NFCS as long as it ain't the Saints. Teams are tied. Game does impact NE, but the rooting interest is unclear.

Cardinals (1-1) at Seahawks (0-2)4:15PM ET

This is scraping the bottom of the barrel for a reason, but the Bills have one of the Seahawks picks (not sure which round) The more that Sea wins, the less valuable it is to our rival.

The following games have no impact on the NEP:
Lions (2-0) at Vikings (0-2) 1:00PM ET
Packers (2-0) at Bears (1-1) 4:15PM ET
Redskins (2-0) at Cowboys (1-1) MNF 8:30PM ET

I am rooting for the Falcons over the Bucs because I like Matt Ryan, and would like to see him get some playoff success.

When in doubt, for the above I root for the Lions, Packers, and Redskins.

When in doubt, for the above I root for the Lions,

I will be rooting for the Lions because my late grandfather was a Lions fan. But the game doesn't impact NE so it doesn't make my analysis.

Oh, I hear ya as far as excluding it. I just was throwing my two cents in. My thoughts on those types of games are to root for the teams whose fanbases I would rather see get a win. Although on that note, one of my best friends growing up is a huge Bears fan, so I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them take down the Packers. Aaron Rogers, though for me is a lot easier to root for than Cutler.

Thanks for putting this together. I look forward to and read it every week, but I don't often comment. Just wanted to put my positive thoughts out there.

As to Philly-Giants, a seventh round pick hardly matches up to dog or animal loving... In other words, take the Giants for your pets sake.

I'm a Reed fan, but not a Vick fan... Go Giants.

Chiefs (0-2) at Chargers (1-1) 4:05PM ET

NFW do I root for the Chaagiz who arise from the dead zombielike at the end of every season. Our "lead" is ephemeral and too early. Drive a stake into the Chargers. Go Mattie C!

Giants (1-1) at Eagles (1-1) 1:00PM ET

Don't hate the Jints but I can't stand all the Eagles Dream Team hype. Go Jints!

Steelers (1-1) at Colts (0-2) 8:20PM ET

We are all Colts fans now. :)
Don't want the Colts to pick high in the draft rounds. Hoping for 7-9, probably forlornly.

Steelers are more of a threat for playoff seedings. Amen

Ravens (1-1) at Rams (0-2) 4:05PM ET

Birds are a tough match against the Pats. Want this playoff bound team to come to Foxboro in Jan. Not vice-versa. Uh wait...

Falcons (1-1) at Buccaneers (1-1) 4:15PM ET

I like the Bucs but I like Ryan and the Atlanter org too. Torn here.

Cardinals (1-1) at Seahawks (0-2)4:15PM ET

Pete Carroll can't lose enough for me. Go Cards!

The following games have no impact on the NEP:
Lions (2-0) at Vikings (0-2) 1:00PM ET

Like the cats and can't stand the Vikes owner.

Packers (2-0)
at Bears (1-1) 4:15PM ET

Enjoy seeing Cutler beclown himself.

Redskins (2-0) at Cowboys (1-1) MNF 8:30PM ET

Enjoy seeing Romo beclown himself

Completely agree. I love reading these threads every week :)

I can't see wanting the Chargers over the Chiefs

The Chiefs are one of the most pathetic teams if you judge the 2 games and 2 ass whippings they took and will be lucky to win 4 games this year....I would hope SD is one of the teams they beat.

NE has the edge over SD right now but what if SD wins one more game than NE when the playoffs start and one of those wins was against KC this week to break the tiebreaker for home field.

No thanks to that...Go Chiefs!!!

Damn might be the 1st time I root for the colts. Don't know if I can even watch that game. Might still root for the steelers anyways. Not that who I root for even really matters :D .

The word "who" in the title of this thread is erroneously inflected in the nominative case, rather than in its correct form, the accusative "whom."

Carry on.

Good gad, man! Mind your prepositions -- "for whom to root."

Energizer Bunny was heeeeeerrrrreeeee!!!!!

Can I ship some of my workload your way?
I hardly have time to wipe my Sanchez:eek:, let alone analyze the Rex Ryan:eek: out of a week's worth of games.
Good calls, overall, BTW.
Although Houston will not surprise anything like Detroit by Christmas, my $0.02.

That's 1980's-style, ya spring patchick.

Hate to admit it, but the who instead of whom irks me.

First off, let me say you make a lot of sense, and are logical in your approach when dealing with next years draft. Your right.
But, in our fans point of view we love football games. I don't think there would be a higher TV rated game than Patriots VS Saints in the Super Bowl.
Brady and the Patriots going for their 4th ring VS Brees and the Saints after knocking off P. Manning and the Colts,
going for the #1 team of the decade and Trying to beat the best.
Plus we both know we a good fans of the game and would have a blast.

hmm.. and the added sting to your respected rival, the Colts, is the 2 teams they hate the most right now, would be fighting for a championship in Lucas Oil Stadium :)
The only 2 teams, none of them will root for. Its almost poetic to me,lol

Yep, it rather pains me to root against the Saints all year -- likable team, likable fans. But as a draftnik, I have to force myself. :)

Its understandable, and your right to do so. Thanks, no disrespect, but we are going to try and disappoint you. :)

Really? I thought "whom" was just a stuffy way of saying "who", like "thou" instead of "you" or "wherefore" instead of "why".
