Not burying Brewster at all. I would like to see us pick up a young C this upcoming draft. Just don't think we have to use multiple picks to trade up to get him. Should be able to get a good center prospect at 1b or 2a. If he looks good, I'm sure BB will consider him. I just don't think he stands head and shoulders above everyone else like some of our Buckeye fans do. I even like that Molk kid from Michigan. Saw them more last year. Not yet this year. He was downfield blocking all year for Denard Robinson and those screens they liked to run.

It's a wee bit early to be burying Brewster, isn't it??

1 ~ The vital importance of an elite Center cannot be overstated.

2 ~ Koppen is good, but that doesn't make him good enough.

3 ~ We can win Championships with him...But our chances of doing so would increase significantly with a Nick Mangold or Marquis ~ sorry: I cannot abide "Maurkice" ~ Pouncey.

Would Brewster ~ or Jones, or Konz, in the extremely unlikely event of his declaring ~ constitute a dramatic upgrade of Koppen or Connolly??

Too early to say for sure.

4 ~ But Brewster does show precisely that potential.

Leave us not forget how hideously awful that none other than our man Nate "Universal" Solder looked in that game against Cali, exactly one year ago.

Amen, Brother!

Seeing TFB do his Dexter impression on opposing defenses is an amazing sight, but he needs to be protected in order to make that happen. Although I’d like to keep Koppen around for depth I think we’d do well to upgrade at Center, and Brewster, Jones, and Konz would be SIGNIFICANT upgrades IMO. Currently Konz is my uber-binkie, I shudder to think what Dante could do with his raw talent.

With an O-line of Solder, Mankins, Konz, Cannon, and SeaBass we'd easily have the best O-line in the league and one of the best EVER! That kind of lineup can actually make a reality of TFB's wish to play until his 40s.

Yeah, there's no question that it'd be ridiculous to even think about trading a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd for the guy, no matter HOW he turns out.

I wouldn't've done that even for Pouncey.

I haven't burned my first Mock, yet, but when I do, Brewster is a prime candidate for #31, #32, or #...40, or wherever the Raiders drop.

I absolutely LOVE this guys athleticism and his ability to pull and block for the runner. THAT will be essential in running an Old-school Packer sweep, OWNING the field of battle 5-10yds at a shot, absolutely destroying defenses physically and mentally.

The entire Mich O line is small and built for speed. Similar to the Oregon line. Which is great when they (both teams) don't face talented D linemen. But when they (Org vs Auburn, Org vs Ohio St, Org vs LSU and Mich when they play big d line from the big 10), it doesn't have a chance to survive. They easily get dominated.
I'll wait 2-3 years for the Mich coach to get back to getting old school Mich O lineman before I ever touch O lineman from the Rich Rod era.

Seems like teams that can move Koppen, cause us huge problems and give Brady a case of happy feet.

Yes, you make a great argument to upgrade our personell at Center, I approve!

Someone to keep an eye on for sure. He seems to have a bit of nastiness to his game.

I did see that. I wonder what his true height is. Colleges lie about heights all the time.

If Brewster goes uninjured he's still my choice. Many writers said to expect an offyear with what went on at Ohio St. Tough to practice with more NCAA officials and reporters than players on the field. The team was decimated and the coaches are all new. If someone asked me to defend that QB, I'd buy him a lock for his front door.

We have to stop looking at drafting Brewster, as giving up three picks. Instead look at it as total points, Solder #17=950 and our own picks 1-3, would be in the same ballpark.

If we jumped on Brewster, we all know BB would trade our other 1st into 2013, giving us an additional 2nd in 2012. I even expect BB to trade one of our remaining 2nds into 2013, giving us seven picks in 2013 plus adding another 3rd in 2012.

Those moves leave us with a 2nd,3rd and 4th and ofcourse whatever we get for Hoyer.(for the sake of argument let's say a 3rd).
Brewster,2nd,two 3rds,4th & 2013-two 1st- two 2nds-3rd-4th & 7th,not bad. Should be able to strengthen team & Vincent Jackson-free agent pickup.

How has Peter Konz been doing? Apparently he has much better athleticism then Breewster but the knock on him is that he's raw, Solder was considered VERY raw but he's been doing very well. There's no one better than Scar to take raw talent and mold it.

Ohio State's new freshman QB-Braxton Miller, is screwing up the entire OSU line w. his cadence his fluctuation with his cadence. I have never seen a bad snap from Brewster to Terrell Pryor in 3 years but this year, I've seen 4 bad snaps (3 on Brew) w. Braxton in 4 games and a high number of false starts from the other Lineman.

Cause when the 4 year backup QB- Joe Bauserman aka Epic Fail, was playing this year, no snapping issues and the number of false starts go down from the lineman.

Don't like this idea at all. Center is not even close to a 1st round need. The Pats need two DL, DE, and a Safety.
There has been no decline in the line with Connolly at C, in fact I think he is a better C than OG. They could extend Koppen for a year or two, or pick up a kid in the 3rd or 4th, to back up Connolly.

The defense needs an infusion of young talent up front, and a playmaker at S, before they even consider anyone for the offense.

Nope. Center needs help. Also, the Safety class is top heavy in within the first 15th picks and that's it. There isn't any good safety that will be there late in the 1st round and 2nd round.

Also,
Remember how, during our last 3 playoff games, the interior of the line were molested by the Giants, Ravens and Jets? Koppen is done. He cannot deal w. any NT or a 1 tech DT. While Connelly might be a better pass protector, he isn't a good run blocker. Also he is 29.

Pats need to pick up a center either in the late 1st round or early 2nd round.
Now, if Upshaw is there w. one of our picks in the late 1st round, I would LOVE to get him over a Center.

Watching the Pats Oline and it is hard to get a good grasp of how good they are at run blocking. With Vollmer and Koppen out and Connelly and Waters in, I get the sense that Connelly is struggling as a run blocker, but Waters is very good at run blocking. While Connelly is strong as a pass blocker and Waters is horrible as a pass blocker. But that could be because Solder is a rookie.

We really need more time to figure this one out. Of course it would help if BB ran the ball a bit more to keep defenses honest.
