Apparently he told Sam Farmer of the LA Times that he can pick up the Colts' offense in a matter of days. An added bonus is that he lives in Indy so there will be no relocation costs. I don't know how the Colts cannot pass up bring back their former first round pick. He is only 44 and it has only been a decade since he threw a pass in a real game. I am sure that he could come back and be odds on favorite for comeback player of the year.

Awwwwwwww schucks. Now Art Schlister is no longer an option either.

Give Painter another change! Give Painter another chance!

Is it too early for the nfl to flex out the steelers colts game? If not this SNF game is going to be...um....not good. It is going to be a very long year in Indy.

That's okay, I'm sure we'll all talk about how we held Jeff George and his 68 yr old @ss to 'only' 400 yards passing in the week 13 matchup.

We'll also point out how other teams are doing it, so it must be okay...

:D

We chuckle, but does George stand to have a worst winning percentage than 0 ?

He'd be as good a choice as Collins right now. They are actually better off with Painter. Which says it all.

I fear they might be picking 1st and 33rd. And if Manning is any good when he returns, they might be able to get him some help. Or a successor.

Interestingly enough, Jim Irsay mysteriously began tweeting last week about doing just that thing. (I think??)

If Grogs comes out of retirement to play for them like the Vinitraitor, he's dead to me!

Huh. I'm trying to figure out why I thought Art Schlichter would be sharing a cell with Jeff George. Huh.

Why would you worry after looking how the Colts have been drafting in recent years? Their 2010 first round pick is a third string DE who frequently is a healthy scratch on gameday (and probably would have been cut if he wasn't a first round pick). Their 2009 first round pick is a crappy back up RB who barely plays (and has been benched this entire year). Their 2008 first round pick was traded away to draft the bust OT, Tony Ugoh. Their 2007 first round pick is an often injured and often underachieving, Anthony Gonzalez. Their 2006 first round pick was a flash in the pan Joseph Addai who is nothing more than a third down back trying to be a lead back. Their 2005 first round pick is mediocre CB Marlin Jackson. You have to go back to 2004 to find a good first round pick by the Colts in Bob Sanders and even then the guy spent more than half his career inactive because of injuries.

If the Colts got the first pick, they would probably pass on Andrew Luck and draft a WR who would turn into a fourth WR for them. I don't know if there is a team who have whiffed on first round picks more in recent years than the Colts. This is why they are so awful without Manning.

I' say bring in Archie Manning (for all the difference another vet QB might make), but that might interfere with his ability to watch eli playing ball. I'm sure Archie is familiar with the offense by now.

I'm pretty sure exhuming the dead is illegal in most states.
