They mentioned this stat during the game. Philip Rivers is the first QB to have 3 straight games of passing for 300 yards or more against a Bill Belichick coached Patriots. You would have thought that Peyton Manning would be the one holding that title.

He's 0-3 in those games and 1-5 against the Pats overall, no?

Put me down for "unimpressed".

Most of us do not question his talent. He can light up the sky.

Do not question his heart - consider that
play off game he started with a knee brace.

Tough dude...

False. He lost last season but the one before that he won. It was the year you guys had Matt Cassell.

Yeah, I corrected my post to 1-5 (0-5 head to head vs. Brady)

Yawn.

Yes, you could mention him in the same sentence with younger version of Peyton Manning - - the one who couldn't beat Tom Brady for 5 years in the early part of last decade.

I'm sorry LightningBolt, but 300 yards doesn't really cut it as impressive in these parts this year. That's 36% below Brady's average so far this year against "top-5 D's" Miami and San Diego. :D

Rivers is an excellent QB. It's been nice to see him mature as a person too. He doesn't seem to be such an ass out there. He is starting to act like a professional and it shows in his game. Certainly seems to have separated himself from that jerk Cutler and I would definitely put him in top 5 in qb talk.

Congrats on the moral victory

I hate these stupid stats..just like no QB has throw for 500 then 400 ect ect ect

Wow he beat Cassell? I take back everything I've said this week about the chargers fans being delusional. No wonder we were going to get beat 45-3.

I was pissed at the not-so-super-chargers losing twice to the raiders last season and messing with our pick but we ended up with Solder so it's forgiven. But this year we have their 2nd. So do me a favor and tell Rivers to man up for once.

Philips the first QB to get 300+ yards while also losing those three games in a row against the Pats. Congrats. My bad, he beat Matt Cassel!

Rivers is an excellent player, and after watching Ryan and Vick take turns turning the ball over, I finally just accepted that what he did today maybe isn't even unusual for a good player. Brady spoils us as fans. After the last few years of watching him, even good QBs seem lacking when I watch them.

That's fantastic. His INTs, fumbles, and losses in those games make that a meaningless stat.

I don't think anyone denies the talent on that side of the ball for SD. Rivers to Jackson, Gates (though not yesterday), Floyd, and Tolbert is pretty tough to defend. Rivers is pretty reliable for a lot of yards. But, as is wont with a Norv Turner team, they can't put it together when it matters most.

You guys should really ditch that coach, but because he's there, I've yet to consider the Chargers a serious threat to go to the Super Bowl.

Rivers is a top 5-6 quarterback, playing for a bottom 25-32 coach... Norv Turner sux...

That's not a distinction. Who doesn't get 300+ yards against the patriots these days?

He is a tough dude alright and I do remember the play off game where he played with the bum knee while our La-Classian sat on the sideline as usual pouting...

Chargers team is more likeable without the "you got no classss.." ass****

good effort but you always find a way to lose. Now lose that attitude and while you are at it, lose your coach. What a team you have ... salute...

I think Lightningbolt (who is a good Charger fan poster here) can now see that this particular point is ridiculous in today's NFL.

But Rivers was great yesterday - - he had only 38 yards less than Future Hall of Famer Chad Henne did last week against the Pats.

Henne had a lot of passing yards but didn't he convert on 3rd down only twice? This indicates that he got most of his yards on a few drives whereas Rivers converted 10 out of 12 third down plays. He kept drives alive but then we'd do something idiotic like fumble or that goal line stand where we did 3 straight running plays that failed. I only blame Rivers for the one int where he threw off his back foot towards Gates. The other int was just a great play by Vince Wilfork.

Wow.

Congratulations on your QB being better in some regards (not turnovers!) than Future Hall of Famer Chad Henne.

It's criminal that Dan Fouts never won a SB ring - - he had passing yardage stats!!!!!!!

Lemme guess, your favorite baseball player was Dave Kingman?

300+ yards but 0-3 in those games. Dude, you're embarrassing yourself.

You're the one embarrassing yourself. Rivers was 1-2 in that stretch. Get your facts straight.
