It's all in black and white, who's wrong and who's right, so here's my wish for your Christmas night.

I wish you a few new brain cells
I wish you a few new brain cells
I wish you a few new brain cells
and to act with more class

Bad tidings to you
To you in the know
May your holiday dinners
Taste like yellow snow

I wish you a few new brain cells

BTW you also said trade neal...OR did you forget about that? And to YOU a lump of coal...

Here's a link to your thread of a lifetime - the responses to which you apparently have yet to recover from.

I'm not sure what point (if any) you believe you are making. Branch is gone, traded for a first - albeit with a gun held to their heads because that was the only way it made any sense. And we have the worst WR corps in the league as a result since Chad Jackson (and Bam and Stone  ) hasn't stepped up so far...nor did David Patten ever manage to get released. Yet here we sit at 10-4.

I tried to explain to you that the reason you wouldn't do this pre-emptively is because in playing for tomorrow via draft picks you sometimes lose out all around. At the rate we're protecting him without legit WR's, Brady could be a paraplegic by 2007, while if we still had Branch the concensus is we'd currently be staring down HFA in 2006. With now Captain Graham and Neal as one of our higher functioning Olinemen still in the fold, Seymour extended, and more cap money than we can likely spend efficiently this year or next. Go figure.

As for your little gift ditty to us all this Christmas, I just wish IAN would get his act together and get us those extra smilies I've been asking for. If he had I'd have been able to offer you a three finger salute in return for your holidays, little man.

Owl, while you did get the Branch trade half right (they did trade him and they did get a first rounder, but it wasn't to the Eagles), everything else you suggested in that thread was way off. None of your other trades happened, Chad Jackson, Bam Childress and Stone have been fairly invisible (with only one of them even being on the 53 man roster for an extended period of time and one not even affiliated with the team anymore), and I don't believe Willie Andrews has even played on defense this season (much to my chagrin), let alone supplant anyone as the nickelback.

You have no reason to come back all smug attempting to throw anything in the faces of your detractors.

How did Graham look in that Broncos uni?

My favorite is Tom Casale (ooops! I mean I'mRonBorges?) flatly stating "One thing has absolutely nothing to do with the other and nothing you have posted so far has anything at all to do with the Patriots. Deion Branch for a 1st round draft pick? Good luck with that one.".

I wonder what his fiancee Alison(LovesBrady) has to say about that one.

While Branch was traded..I don't think there are many who would not gave loved it if he were with the club now. I would have been happy if they worked out a deal...and I think MOST fans would have. What you are celebrating in parades ONLY came about because of Branch's tantrums and wanting to be gone. Without tha gun to the head as MOL said..it would never have happened..and Grahm and Neal gone?? Didn't happen..and as many complain about the lack of receivers and the pirous line..what would it be like without those two??? Still doesn't make sense at all..

Well done. Would you like a medal?

And the people who keep saying that California will fall into the ocean after the next Big One, if they keep saying it long enough, will be right some day too!

Anyway, nice guess. And dont take the retribution so hard.. Its a frothy testosterone-crazed football crew in here. People say sh!t one day and move on the next.

Have a good holiday, and keep posting in the New Year, dude.

Bradmahn, The trades I suggested, I still stand by today. I love Deion Branch, as a person and player, but it was obvious at that point he wasn't going to stay, so I said let's cut our losses and move on. As far as going to the Eagles, that was just an example of one team that might be interested. If you recall my, as you put it, detractors told me I was crazy to think we could get a #1 draft pick for Deion. Well? As far as Graham not being traded, I said I would trade him. I mentioned Denver because he went to school in that area. In your heart of hearts do you think he's played well for the team this year, when healthy - I mean, as a #1 draft pick for the Patriots - played well? After this year we have absolutely no trade value for him. As far as Neal goes, I believed we could get a 3rd or a 4th for him plus he expressed a desire to play on the West coast. And, don't forget, we've won a SB with Hochstein playing guard. Plus Yates looks promising. If you look at the San Diego Chargers and what they did to the Denver Broncos and how we fared against the Denver Broncos at home, I think you'll have to agree we have some catching up to do. What we've done in the past is fantastic and seeing old faces leave is heartbreaking, but to stay competitive for a SB trophy we might, on occasion, have to wheel and deal in a more radical fashion, especially with players who after attaining a ring want to get the most money they can. (And I don't condemn anyone for that.) It is what it is. My only problem is for people to attack and offer no alternative, especially on a personal level. This site could be like a mental Disneyland of ideas where everybody can have fun and be encouraged to take a ride.

You might consider developing a thicker skin.
Given how demonstrably obsessed you are with taking a little flack over this months ago, Gawd help you if you ever posted to the football groups on USENET.

I had not seen that thread before -- http://208.109.107.176/new-england-patriots/messageboard/showthread.php?t=37641 -- but let me say, sir, most respectfully, that you are either an idiot or brilliant. I tend towards the latter because of the obvious and delicious irony in ending your ditty with "and to act with more class".

Alamo, thanks for the compliment, but I am like 99% of most people - falling somewhere in the middle of brilliant or idiot! Maybe you can help me out with something: I know as Yanks we're criticized for our use of the English language so maybe you can help me out with some things I've seen on the English telly. How does Carol Smilley become "smiley," Bucket become "Bouquet," and my favorite of all times, where did you guys find an "F" in lieutenant?

Thanks again. May God Bless You and Yours.

Personally, I don't give a rodent's rectum about getting attacked. I can give as well as I get. But if you notice, I never attacked anyone else's ideas. I believe the more ideas the better. Seeing things from many different angles shouldn't be discouraged, but encouraged. In another 20 years or so you might think of changing your name to PatsWickedUndergarment.

MoLewisrocks,

Since I posted my thread I've seen others attacked for offering up different ideas. Do you believe this makes the site better or worse? As kids if we messed up we were asked if we had rocks in our heads. Congratulations, you're the only one I know who named them. And further, with my little ditty, I wished for all of you greater expertise in thinking and etiquette. Also, I never referred to you as "little man." Why would I want to take your wife's job? Let's all just call a truce so in the future we can discuss and not disgust.

Shmessy, love your sense of humor. I'll have to keep an eye out for your future posts. It'll brighten my day.

Dear Owl,

Something is seriously wrong with you.

Sincerely,
Your sanity

I didn't attack you unless like someone else here you perceive anyone rationally disagreeing with you, even vehemently, as some form of personal attack.

And I didn't call you little man until you wished me yellow snow.

Pissa is right, grow a sack and get over yourself or your time here will probably continue to be miserable.

I have some questions of my own regarding the United States.

How does the word route, which is clearly of French origin, become "rowt"? Since when was the letter T pronounced as a D? Why is it OK to carry a concealed firearm, but not use profanity?

OK, to answer some of your questions, "Smiley" sounds better and is often the reason why pronunciation is changed over time. Hyacinth Bucket is aspiring nouvelle riche and as such the change of pronunciation is part of the joke. For the benefit of everyone else, she is a character in a series called "Keeping up Appearances".
Why we say "leftenant", I have no idea. It makes no sense at all.

God knows what you see in English telly. My favourite programmes are NCIS, the Shield, Law and Order and Criminal Minds. Go figure!

I don't really want to turn this into a discussion on the relative merits of American English and British English but I've heard people say both "root" and "rowt" for the word "route". Is there some regional divide on this or was it just a fluke?
