Fairly interesting.

Per Reiss tweet

QB Mallett, WR Price, RB Vereen, LB Guyton and C/G Wendell the final five inactives for Patriots.

Obviously Kopp and Wright are the other 2.

Man, when will it be Price time to shine?!!

Is this the end for Gary Guyton, coverage linebacker? :(

So Spikes is active?

EDIT: And Cunningham/Vollmer. Great news if so

I think Price is still nursing a Hammy...... Edelmen and Slater probably more valuable for today's game plan.

Interesting to see Guyton inactive. Considering he was burnt in coverage last week, Nink getting an extension, and Spikes returning to action; Guyton looks like he maybe the odd man out a lot.

Edds is obviously showing enough in practice to make the gameday roster too. That's nice.

We can discuss Price's hammy forever. The reality is that we have absolutely no need for 6 active wide receivers and 3 active tight ends. Edelman and Slater are needed for special teams. They also can be used as receivers, if the need arises. After all there are 6 receiver targets ahaed of them: Welker, Branch, Hernandez. Gronkowski, Ochocinco and Woodhead.

Can't see Welker, Ochocinco, or Branch being deactivated at this point. Edelman is the returner and Slater is #1 Special Team player.

Tough spot for Price, will need an injury or Ocho to continue to underperform to get his shot.

And who is our backup center?

Only the second time in his career that Guyton has been inactive; the other was in his rookie season in 2008.

Price is going to have to beat Ochocinco out to get activated at this point. After one game, Ochocinco isn't going to get the hook.

I understand that I am being repetitive. However, this situation was clearly forseeable. We NEED 5 interior lineman and 4 OT's. In a pinch, one of these backups can be on the Practice Squad, like Welch. Unless Thomas is ready to play center, I think that we are taking an an nexessary risk. We would have done better to sign a backup OG/C a month ago as many here suggested. Failing that, we might have sign an old emergency backup center a week ago.

Good question; the long snapper, I suppose?

I'm with you, I don't disagree. Unless there's somebody capable of playing center that we are not aware of I am really surprised that Belichick neglected to address that this week; it's not like him at all to overlook a detail or hypothetical like this.
