Early Pats Picks
1a 28th from NO - Peter Konz - C Wisonsin
We need a replacement eventually and saves us a nice chunk by not having to re-up Koppen. What a big, young, tough OL!!
Solder - Mankins - Konz - Cannon/Waters - Vollmer

1b 32 - J. Fuller - WR - Texas A&M - I'm sure we'll trade down. Showing some age at this position. He played extremely well against Patrick Peterson in their Bowl game last year. That big wr we've been craving. 6'4" 215lb.

2a 48 fm Oak V. Curry - DE - Marshall - Hope Oakland is worse than 8-8. But, I feel the non-playoff teams in the AFC Stink. All except; Pats, Balt, Pitt, NYJ, SD and South Winner(Prob Houston). One of Box's binkies from last year. May not be there but hey, it's my mock.

2b Nigel Bradham - OLB - FSU - Would give us some athleticism at that position. I'm not against moving Mayo to MLB if Spikes/Fletcher don't work out. I'm real curious to see him against OU tomorrow night. They will test him. A hurry-up, spread team that can run the ball. Sounds like the Pats.

I saw one video of Alameda Ta'amu. He got BLOWN off the LOS every play. Very weak at the Point of Attack.

Maybe it was a bad game. Or an off day. I dont know. But he looked horrible.

----------------

That said. Robert Lester FS from Alabama is intriguing as a prospect. He's 6'2 with a knack for INTs. With all the tall WR's coming into the league, we could use someone like that.

Rankings are very fluid at this point. Haven't seen UW yet this year. I used a combination of players I've seen. CBS Sports, ESPN Board and Mel's Big Board. I saw Lester at the Alabama/PSU game. Bama's secondary looked very good. I just have a hunch we go for a veteran FS this off-season. Dream guy would be Laron Landry - Wash. More realistic option could be Reggie Nelson - Cincy. I really liked him coming out of Florida. Watched a little of the Cincy/Cleve game this week and he looked good when I was watching.

I know you didnt list him, but most places do.

Marcus Forston is another player I don't like. He's listed at 6'3 300, but I think in reality he's closer to 6'2 290. Very small build. Not strong. And isnt fast enough to make up for those other deficiencies.

1st Round
CB D. Kirkpatrick - Alabama, A. Dennard - Nebraska, Morris Claiborne - LSU, C. Harris - Oregon, S. Gilmore - So. Carolina
C. Minnifield - Virginia

Wow! What an outstanding set of CB's.

Kirkpatrick is an outstanding CB and Dennard played better than Amukamura last season. Claiborne had a nice night last night and I really like Gilmore's game.

It would not surprise me if BB took another CB early in the 2012 draft, especially if we are drafting at #32.

Tremendous effort on this. Absolutlely love the mock. Four very solid choices if Konz declares. I read on the Wisconsin board that he said he wants to come back next season and finish his career. (Good for him, sad for us.)

I have the DVR set for the FSU-Oklahoma game, can't wait to see how Bradham does against superior talent and a stacked team like Oklahoma.

I'm leery of the present day Canes. They are living off of the reps of that motherload of talent they had up until about 04. Portis, McGahee, Gore, Winslow Jr. , Shockey, A. Johnson, V. Wilfork, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Reggie Wayne.

I can live with Brewster if Konz stays at Wisky. Can prob get him in early 2nd. Move back a little from 32. Get an extra pick.

I'd like to put major draft resources into FS early next draft. Perhaps Mark Barron, Alabama or Kenny Tate, Maryland (move him back to S).

BB frequently takes two guys at a position to make extra sure it gets filled. Past examples are Vereen and Ridley at RB, and Gronk and Hernandez at TE. This next draft I seeing him doing that for an OC. (But not using a 1st). With the added benefit that the guy who doesn't ultimately end up at OC should be able to transition to RG very easily. So far I don't particularly like B. Jones, Georgia and I haven't seen enough of P. Konz, Wisc to have an opinion yet. Two guys I've watched a little and like are D. Molk, Michigan and especially B. Cave, Notre Dame. The dude seems to have more pancakes than IHOP.

For WRs I really like R. Broyles, Okla. But it's early in the college season. I'm sure others will catch my eye by year's end.

I also think we should be on the lookout for an MLB/ILB in case the smoke emanating from Brandon Spikes' twitter account turns into a fire. Although I don't have any names to cite at the moment.

Just generally speaking. I'm leery of current Ohio St players and very leery of current U of Miami players.

He looked pretty bad against Boise. Fine in pass pro (though Boise attacked mainly from the edges) but he was constantly on the ground when run blocking. Just baffling so I gave him another shot before I took him off my radar. MUCH better against SCarolina. Still no issues in protection but stayed on his feet and attacked the 2nd level in the running game.

Hard to evaluate Jones since Georgia is anemic at the skill positions. Also the Bulldog schedule is odd this year (their toughest roadie all year is Ole Miss). I'll keep my eye on Jones but probably won't be sold on him completely until after the UF and Auburn games.

Dwight Jones (and no I don't have a "Jones" issue) has been absolutely sick so far. Big, strong and fast with the ability to line up everywhere and attack all areas of the field. Would like to see him snatch like Larry Fitzgerald does and has been going against weak competition...though the UNC schedule is pretty sad except for the Clemson and VaTech games. Could struggle at some point with a soph QB but so far so good.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check him out asap.

Talent wise he'd be in there. I don't think he'll declare for the draft. Floyd, Fuller and Broyles came back this year. I have a couple of juniors ahead of him. Blackmon and Jeffrey. If he comes back for next year, he could battle Robert Woods for the top wr in 2013. I don't know anything about his financial/educational situation. Just basing it on a football decision.

Couple of thoughts from yesterday's games. I thought Landry Jones was a sure-fire Top 10 pick. He just doesn't play very well on the road. Kudos for the drive to put OU up after tied at 13. Still have him in the first. Want to see how he does against Texas. Broyles probably should have come out last year. Stills is a better wr. And, I had him late in the first. Not so sure about that now. Mel Kiper had Ronnell Lewis - de - Oklahoma something like 15 on his big board when on ESPN Friday. Boy, he looked terrific. May project to 3-4 olb in the NFL. Heresy, for me to say it. He looked like a couple of old school number 56's from the 80's last night. Soph cb not eligible for draft Jefferson looks like a Thorpe(best db) candidate and FSU soph X. Rhodes right with him. A couple of olb's looked pretty good too. Travis Lewis - from OU. He knocked EJ Manuel out of the game with a clean hit. Bradham from FSU looked good on the field. But, took a couple of dumb penalties. BB will not like. This was a fierce hitting, at times vicious game. I loved it!! Reminded me of the FSU/Miami games from the late 80's and early 90's. Players just getting after each other everywhere.

The Standford trio Luck, Martin and DeCastro looked great. I think Nick Foles - Arizona could play himself into the late 1st. Lamar Miller from Miami is a red-shirt soph. With the Canes trouble. I think he'll come out. Shredded the Buckeyes. Disappointed in Kirk Cousins against ND. Made some very poor decisions. Clemson true frosh Sammy Watkins - Wr looked like a young Larry Fitzgerald. Play FSU this week. Will be interesting to see him going against FSU's outstanding corner Rhodes if they match up.

And, I'm allowed to say this without taking too much grief. Since I'm a PSU grad and fan. The Big 10 is a freakin joke this year. High school offenses at Ohio St and Penn St. Michigan ain't back yet. Nebraska gave up 38 to UW. Wisconsin looks good. But, they took advantage of that loophole allowing players to transfer. They'd be mediocre without Russell Wilson.

I am amazed at what Luck is doing without a lot of weapons. His decision making looks a bit quicker this year.

My horror thought of the week: If Miami tanks the next 14 games, we get to play Luck twice a year, at least.

I'd really like to see Vontaze Burfict here. Outside of Mayo our LB's are very average. Burfict has the size (6'-3'' 250lbs), athleticism, desire and football IQ to be a stud for us. He has great production as well.

Wikipedia said:
By the end of the year, he had collected 69 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and a pair of sacks, and was named a Freshman All-American by College Football News,[14] and by the Football Writers Association of America.[15] He was also honored as the Pacific-10 Conference Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Burfict finished the 2010 season with a team leading 90 tackles, 8.5 for a loss, and two forced fumbles. The Sporting News selected him to their All-American team, as well as Pacific-10 Defensive MVP

In 3 games this year he has 17 tackles and 4 sacks.

What will push him down draft boards is stuff like this

Wikipedia said:
On October 6, 2010 Burfict was benched by Arizona State head coach Dennis Erickson. The reason given was Burfict's unusually high number of personal foul penalties. In a game against Stanford, Burfict was called for grabing the facemask of Doug Baldwin, and—after complaining to the referee—charged with a personal foul for unsportsmanlike conduct that gave Stanford a first down at the ASU 7. Two plays later, Stanford scored what turned out to be the winning touchdown.

LA Times said:
"He has to put everything together physically, mentally and emotionally, and if he can do that, he can be one of the better players I've ever coached," Arizona State Coach Dennis Erickson said. "He hasn't done that over a long period of time."

Here's a great article on Burfict from the LA Times and some of my favorite parts:

Burfict tore into the backfield, picked up the tailback and threw him out of bounds. Jaws dropped all around.

The problem was, Burfict was just as rough with his teammates in practice, leveling anyone not on his side of the ball.

"He'd take your head off," Herring said.

Marvray describes Burfict as "cold, ruthless" and says teammates had to remain focused around him. If you weren't? "Then you'll be on the ground, looking up," Marvray said.

As for Burfict's obvious passion for the game, his mother explains it this way:

"When you do something you really love, it's like your home. You structure it just the way you want, and you don't want anybody to come in there and destroy what you built and what you put your hard work and love into."

The field, she says, is her son's home.

fair enough. I would love Blackmon or Fuller if Sanu stays. Floyd and Jeffrey seem out of reach.

Don't have a link. But, I did read somewhere that Sanu was expected to declare for the draft. When I make a revision I'll have him in there. Have you seen that frosh from Clemson? Sammy Watkins. WOW!!! Looks like a young Fitzy.

And, I take back anything good I ever said about Nigel Bradham - olb - FSU. Kid took some more dumb penalties today. Plays like he's dumber than a "Box o Rocks."

I dont think Greg Childs is fully recovered from his injury...Joe Adams is looking like Arkansas' best WR now (the music on this video sucks)
